Same as old gamers say that 3D in 2D (that we have now)ruins the experience of videogames ;)

I guess you can safely say this after all your 3D gaming years worth of experience, right??
I never liked 3D at the movies, I won't like it now. I'll be buying a 3DS, but I'll never have the 3D on. It's flashy & new so it well sell through the roof thanks to the casual market. It's better then motion controls at least, as motion controls have a massive effect on the game. If the processing power needed to make the game 3D lowers quality though, i'll be dissapointed (understatement).
when i had the virtual boy i just stopped noticingthe 3d effectafter a while. It's the kind of thing that blows your mind every time you turn it on but the wow factor wears off. It's not bad for games though
greengoblin i have never even used 3d

That was my point exactly... and to make it clearer, it makes your point void and your thread a fail.
Sorry to be so harsh in our first encounter.
just wanted to voice my opinion

It's cool to have an opinion of your own, but sometimes, baseless opinions get flamed to death here, so be careful when voicing those.
I find it funny how everyone raves about this gimmick. What is attractive about playing MGS in 3d? I'd rather it in standard format any day, just like any other game.
Meh, it might be a step, but it doesn't make it better. Don't get me wrong i'll be raving about playing my games in virtual reality, but for now i can pass on pop-up 3d.

I've seen movies in 3d, I've seen CGI in 3d, etc. I am pretty sure that is enough to judge whether or not I will enjoy the 3d experience delivered by 3DS, which I think we can agree won't match the 3d/imax experience. Of the 3d movies I've seen both in standard HD and in 3d, I've always preferred the former. Hush. Thanks to the movie mode and this funky contraption included in Metal Gear Acid 2, I already have a good idea of how MGS3 looks in 3D. While not "mind blowing" I did find it refreshing. I certainly don't think it would "ruin" the experience of playing this game. (Acid 2 itself can be played in 3D as well, though doing this for any length of time is awkward just because you have to put your face right up to that stupid piece of plastic)
Is that...real? If it is, I don't think you can compare it to the 3DS because i'd imagine that contraption detracts from the experience while the 3DS requires no glasses. Also, what is that thing and how would I go about doing it with my psp? Thanks to the movie mode and this funky contraption included in Metal Gear Acid 2, I already have a good idea of how MGS3 looks in 3D. Yeah it's real. Iti is called the "solid eye"... not to be confused with Snake's eye patch gizmo in MGS4... and was included with Metal Gear Acid 2 (which is also the only game it works with).
You're right, it can't compare. Not only because you have to hold your head right up to it for this thing to work, but also it cuts the resolution each eye sees to a measly 240x275px. The in game interface gets really crowded. And you have to take the thing off for cutscenes and in the menu between stages. Also it is supposed to make it so each eye only sees exactly one half of the screen but unfortunately it isn't perfect, and even after modifying the divider so it will actually touch the screen there is still a little bit of "cross talk". Oh, and there are annoying graphical glitches when playing the game in 3D. Still with all these problems it's kinda nifty. The game includes several unlockable clips from MGS3, and even an old trailer for MGS4, prerendered in 3D.
