It seems that they think that Sackboy will be a new one. The funny thing is, the rapid changing of mascots makes them look like Situationists.

Look at all major brands now:

Sony: started with Crash Bandicoot (we can pretty much agree that was the first unofficial mascot of Sony PlayStation) - yet new Crash won't even come out on PS3 now.

Nintendo: Mario all the way.

Microsoft: Master Chief - if he can be called a mascot - all the way.

So, in conclusion Nintendo and Microsoft are all faithful to their mascots, and Sony isn't.

SONY has openly expressed that they do not have a mascot like Nintendo.

Just because you see a lot of LBP marketing doesn't mean their are the new representative for SONY.

Actually Sony is not desperate to do anything. Why are fanboys of other systems so desperate to bash Sony? When they haven't even done anything wrong?

Just because Sony have tons of good franchises doesn't mean they have to stick to just one mascot.

Some people think Kratos is the Sony mascot. Some think Sackboy is. While others say Solid Snake is.

Op, this post doesn't really make any sense. So because Sony doesn't officially say point on that that one thing is their mascot they are desperate? LOL. Fanboy logic FTL.

The reason Xbox only has Masterchief for their mascot is because Halo is the only good series on the 360. Nintendo only has Mario because they have no other games. Sometimes not having a mascot is good because there are so many quality ones you can choose one.

Actually, I don't see SONY so desperate because of that. That may be YOUR IMAGINATION

The PlayStation franchise had some charismatic video-game characters, but not an official mascot.

Nevertheless, Microsoft hasn't one, either. I don't see Master Chief doing any massive advertising for Microsoft in games other than Halo.

This thread is just another silly thread to criticize Sony no matter what.

no. and imo I wouldn't call master chief a mascot, usually mascots are aimed towards all audiences.

You dont need a mascot to be successful... Sony dominating the last two gens prove that, so what's it matter?

The desperation is not on Sony's part by on the part of Fanboys who for some strange reason NEED a macot for a system. Sony has never had a mascot. I owned a PS1 and never owned a crash game. Not to mention Crash was not the only big exclusive the PS1 had, it had some exclusive Spyro, Tomb raider, Tekken and MGS games.

Sony systems have always been diverse in their games. You can't stereotype Sony games nearly as easily because there isnt really one franchise that eats up a large percentage of the fanbase. Halo 2 and SSB last gen was bought by roughly 30% of the fanbase of the console they were on. They were the highest selling games for their console. Sony's highest selling game was GTA vice city and it was only in 12% of its fanbase's households.

As I recall, Snake was considered their Mascot for some time. What changed that?

Theres also the support of their three loyalest developers and their products, last generation giving Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper, and this one giving Dylan Cole, Nathan Drake and Nathan Hale (All of whom could kick Master Chiefs ass).

And I think the Sackboy is only being played up cause, quite frankly look at it. It seems to sum up the Ps3 - looks great, is great fun, and can do wonders you couldn't dream of without breaking a sweat.

These days, company mascots are obsolescent and can be considered unnecessary. I think they know this, hence why they are not scrambling to establish a character to represent Sony.

Sony doesnt rely on a mascot to sell its software/hardware, unlike Nintendo and Microsoft who would be nowhere if it werent for Master Cheif and all of Nintendos Mascots. Sony's games are so varied with great characters it doesnt need to rely on one.

You cant play mascots but you can play games.

As the Halo franchise is as good as dead Microsoft are needing a new character for a mascot. . Masterchief was a crappy mascot in every aspect because a great mascot should be for all and not set for a paticular type of person. I think of Banjo franchise as the closest Microsoft will get.

Sony's Mascot has changed through the years with the gaming trends. Shame as their best one is still the 1st! Crash Bandicoot. Its a shame that the CRash franchise started to suck after 3 on the PSX and pretty much killed of Crash games. I suppose Jax and Daxter are real quality mascots.

Nintendo have always had Mario.

ANyone else notice that all the great mascots are platform characters?

The only 1st party game that is big enough to be their mascot doesn't have a single character in it: GT.

I always saw Ratchet as our official mascot, & Sackboy as the unofficial. Although Solid Snake best represents the Playstation brand. Reason being he's been w/ us every gen, even if he did go Multiplat a couple times.

The only time Sony actually technically had a mascot was in the PS1 days with Crash Bandicoot. All this "Sony is desperate to get a mascot" is just Fanboy interpretation. Where exactly has it been official stated that Sackboy will be the new mascot?

You completely failed with this paragraph. Educate yourself a bit better on the other consoles, or dont bash them... else you will have the moniker "fanboy" attached to you forever more.

Hes sorta right. Nintendo does have a couple of very kick-arse series that it is continuing to give us. Spot on with the 360, though.
