Why are consolites upset to know PCs a better experience?

It's not idiotic to talk about them, but it is idiotic to say "PC is simply better" or "consoles are better". That just doesn't make sense. Do you think anyone is going to suddenly realize "Wow! I've been wrong all this time, I should immediately throw away my console and build a gaming PC!". No, that's not going to happen. What that is is pointless preaching.

It's ok to talk about shit, just don't impose your fucking opinion on people who ARE NOT going to change their minds just because some schmuck on the internet told them something.

Well known fact? Better is subjective. People don't all want the same thing. And so so gaming laptop doesn't inspire anyone to think you have a great gaming rig.

To add to your post I did build a gaming PC. Love my new PC. But I still plan on picking up at least the Wii U and PS4 as I just prefer the gaming experience with a console. X1 or course depends on having games I can't also play on PC.

It can happen to an extent, but that implies that the person was essentially a closeted PC gamer. :P In my case, I built a PC because of SW, too. Because graphics and aesthetics have always been one of my favorite parts of video games, it was a natural choice, one that I wasn't fully aware of until I started posting here. But, when people simply say "I prefer console gaming because it's more accessible, and more comfortable" or whatever, I don't think you're going to change their mind.

Considering you can replicate a console experience on a PC, it's objective fact.

So Planescape:Torment, Diablo,Half-Life, Doom,Quake, Ultima, XCOM, Thief 1,2 ,all RTS games and all point and click adventure games are console games ? Because that's what modern gaming is based on.

True gamers doesn't limit themselves to 1 system, and have some twisted idea that they owe multi billion dollar corporations their loyalty. I was a console gamer for all my childhood and most of my teen years, starting with the NES. In my mid teen years I began to attend private LAN parties with PC's i borrowed from my friends, assembled from parts they no longer used. I became interested in multiplayer games like Red Alert, StarCraft, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike etc, so i bought one when i turned 18 and haven't looked back since. I still bought a PS3 on launch day, because of some specific games, like Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken etc.

If a system has games you want, buy it. I haven't bought a PS4 yet, but i will, for games like Uncharted and The Last of Us, even tho i game mainly on my PC.

Hmm....I'm going back on forth over agreeing with you. Not everyone can afford mulitiple systems so I'd hate to say someone isn't a gamer due to financial situations. I tend to buy all the consoles....and I now have a gaming PC....and I like being able to pick up any game I want to play....but again....economics makes this more complicated than you assume.

I'll give pc it's props when pc gamers and gamers in general stop talking about graphics and 60fps and start talking about gameplay and games in general. Is there a word for people who go on about specs rather than the games "hardware nuts maybe"

I think people usually cant afford another system so they stick with their hardly bought christmas gift 400USD console and want to feel better about their choice, so they want others to think the same. I think this is where fanboyism based on.

Elitist gamers...those that take priority in hardware before selecting games. Hardcore gamers are about the games themselves and hardware is just a secondary requirement. PC has it's disadvantages as well, most notably it's non streamlined, multiple UI and peripheral method of interaction. Consoles are more efficient and simple from a power on to power off interaction perspective.

Of course if every game was made for just 1 platform then everyone would still bitch anyway, that's generally the problem with whiners, they have it good enough to take their complaints to the most menial level.

it'd make more sense to talk about the game modes, features and other stuff they're iteration of a game has if they wanna brag. It's nice but I'm not gonna be impressed by you're high specs if the game is awful

That isn't always the case. Not all console gamers are "poor", work at McDonald or live with mum and dad. Some just don't know anything about computers, and aren't interested in them. I have lots of friends that are like that. Pretty much bro gamers. But they still like going on LAN cafes from time to time and play games together.

Funny thing is that Emulation is one of the PC benefits that almost made me build a Gaming PC a year ago.

emulating all my old Saturn, SNES, Genesis, Gamecube, PS1, N64, PS2 etc was what led me back to PC gaming 10 or 12 years ago. amazing playing all these with the new graphic filters, frame rates, quick-saves, tons of new added options.

You're basically saying the polar opposite to him which is also wrong! Both console exclusives and Pc exclusives have contrubuted immensely to the industry as we know it now. I'd say the really big important ones were indeed Ocarina of Time, and Half Life.

lack of games? well every console and computer game released up to PS2 playable on just about any any multi-media PC, for free.

then there's some of the classics: Diablo series, Baldur's gate series, Neverwinter series, KoTOR series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, Might & Magic series, Ultima series, Guild Wars series, Half-Life series, Warhammer series, Fallout series, Star Craft series, Warcraft series, Elder Scrolls series, Drakensang series, Sacred series, Divinity series, The Witcher series, etc, etc.

some of the online exclusive games: Aion, WoW, The Old Republic, Counter-Strikes, Elder Scrolls Online, Neverwinter Online, Ultima, etc.

add another ton of exclusives and multiplats(that just look and play better on PC). keep fooling yourself that PC is lacking in any way and you're the only one missing out on anything.

The whole "opinion" argument holds no bases, because console gaming is a subset of PC gaming. What I mean is you like to play your games on a TV, controller, no mods, lower graphics settings, small fov and cinematic 900p & 30fps? no problem PC can do that.

I think mean compensators, they come in pc flavor as well. Always talking about resolution and framrate but never the more important aspects that make a game great like an amazing and well made combat mode, or a well written story, or how about talking about how great some matches were in a pvp game you played. Boasting about your high spec hardware won't mean a thing if you can't explain how fun it was to play the games on your fancy rig. A game can have the highest resolution and framrate and still be complete boring garbage

Yes, well known fact, i'm a sheep but even i know that PC is a better device in almost every single gen, better graphics, more games, better performance, more variety, etc... and yes, my Laptop is not a powerhouse, i don't need a powerhouse, like i said i only need it for my multiplats needs, besides as of now and watching the new gen, i don't see myself getting a PS4 or an Xbox One because with a gaming Laptop even if it is not that great and a WiiU most of my gaming needs are satisfied.

Don't get me wrong, indeed not all people want the same thing, and is all about the games, but again a good PC gaming rig is a better machine than a PS4 or an X1 and that is not subjective.

They both do it and it's precious time and thought process wasted that they'll never get back. It's real pathetic that people feel the need to brag about this sort of thing. It is a hobby you are having fun with and are passionate about. They're really just bragging about how good things looked on screen as they sat on your butt playing a game that is all, as if that's something to feel proud about, just go have fun

I love how you only choose to read what you wanted to read out of both of my posts where i clearly said that i prefer consoles over PC and that the better device is the one with the games that you want.

Except that $1000-1500 is chump change for hobbies in all reality. Not for the poor of course and it's relative to individual financial priority. But really, it's not much money at all....especially for a hobby. Ever try to fix up a 79 Camero or anything? Ever try to get serious about a marine Aquarium lately? Have you seen the cost that nursery's charge for plants and other lawn hobby stuff? Ever priced lumber lately?

So many hobbies that people have and they spend a vast fortune on them. I know cause I dabble a little bit in all that I mentioned. Try starting an R.C. plane/helicopter hobby and then get serious into it and see how much you've spent over any particular period of time and if you start out at the bottom and get serious later it's even more...I bet it's far, far more than any game and console generation.

I just want someone to brag about how amazingly fun a game was on their platform of choice just once and tell me what made the game fun. We'd all benefit from that I think, especially if we were curious about said game

You're on the wrong board to expect those kinds of discussions. They DO happen,but wanna know what happens next? they either get ignored or start a flamewar that boils down to graphics.

You single out PC gamers yet only afew weeks back we had topics of divinity:OS and we have games like wasteland 2 and pillars of eternity coming out this year. All 3 of those games trigger topics about great story and gameplay..but on this board console fanboys only want to see the next big graphic powerhouse.

I have been a console gamer my whole life as well(starting with the Atari 2600) but I have not bought a next gen console yet, and instead opted to spend a few hundred more for a decent gaming laptop. Part of this was because of my hectic schedule, but the fact that console exclusives are pretty bad right now, combined with the cheap games on steam has led me to do 95% of my gaming on PC's.

.I definitely agree with you that brand loyalty is a foolish concept, the best platform for gaming changes every generation and the companies on top are always changing, everyone needs to decide what experience is best suited for them and go with it, but basing a decision solely on brand loyalty is never a good idea.
