I have a PS3 just bought one actually and i was looking through games and most are 720p whereas ALL 360 games are 1080p the only game i saw that had 1080p was MGS4 which i will be picking up soon, im just wondering i own both systems but that kinda pissed me off, any answers?

Just for example uncharted which i love so far, 720p

Bad company is 720p on ps3 but 1080p on 360 the list goes on....

mgs4 doesnt actually play in 1080p it is just upscaled so you can run your tv in 1080 when playing it. most games are like this even for 360. it's mainly because of the performance boost you get when running in a much lower rez.

Most of the resolution listings are upscaled. Harldy any games are 1080p on either the 360 or the PS3. CoD4, Halo 3, MGS 4, and Haze aren't even 720p.

I think you might be mistaken there. Most 360 andPS3 games either run natively at 720p or at a slightly lower resolution and upscaled.

360 can do 1080p?

Halo 3 640p. Ninja gaiden 2 585p. LAWLZZ.

360 does not support any higher than 720p. That's the NATIVE RES. It upscales to 1080p. Upscaling and native res are too different things. PS3 can support 1080p native, but it's up to devs.

its a simple technical issue. Consoles are not powerfull enough to run many graphically intensive games at 1080p. The performance drop from 720 to 1080 is huge. Trust me, i play my PC games at 1080 and although most still hit 60fps the odd one, clear skies for example, has had to have the gfx settings greatly reduced to run at 1080. At 720 i can max the game however.

P.S. 360 does NOT run ALL games at 1080p, infact you will be hard pressed to find any.

It's called marketing. Even halo 3 says HD on the box, but the game isn't in HD AT all. It's 640p which is not HD.

The Xbox 360 has a built-in hardware upscaler whereas the Playstation 3 does not.

ALL of those games with display resolutions as 1080p are only displaying an upscaled 1080p image. For example, Halo 3 has a native display resolution of 640p.....BELOW 720p. It upscales to 720p when you set your TV to 720p....and it upscales to 1080p from there if you set your TV to 1080p.

It is not a native signal. Your Xbox is not rendering the game in 1080p.

Most games do not run in 1080p. Don't get caught up in the marketing bullcrap. Just because the box says 1080p doesn't mean the game runs at 1080p. Likewise for 720p, unfortunately. All games run at 600p and up, though most start at 720p.

Don't need too, i know my tech stuff. You need to know the difference between upscaling and native resolution.

99% of all console games are 720p and below.
