I can get completely new DA2, Crysis 2, Homefront for only $28, however consoles version cost almost twice the more. Aren't cheap PC games a reason to switch to PC?

Gotta pay to royalties to sony\m$MonsieurXHere is your answer. When you see these guys raising the price of a PC game, it is out of greed for the most part.
Gotta pay to royalties to sony\m$MonsieurXIt's more than just that. The price difference in price grows much larger, much quicker between PC and console the longer a game has been out. Which definitely helps if you wanted to play game only at a certain price point.
royalties, but it depends where you live, its a 5 dollar difference here, and sometimes console games are cheaper here. Doesnt help that a hd 6870 costs 400 here.
Steam is also a rip off, it really depends where you live.
Sucks for you I guess. Much cheaper where I live 8)royalties, but it depends where you live, its a 5 dollar difference here, and sometimes console games are cheaper here. Doesnt help that a hd 6870 costs 400 here.

Steam is overpriced and good only for sales, but I use a way cheaper site.
[QUOTE="Sandvichman"][QUOTE="dramaybaz"]Lower standards.dramaybazThey are more expensive because they have lower standards? what? PC games have lower standards and quality, so you pay less.
So why on PC same bugs as on consoles are fixed way faster?
[QUOTE="Pokemaster1337"]The price of disappointing PC games does drop like a rock. Batman: Arkham Asylum was disappointing on PC? That's odd because it was a great game. I paid $7.50 for it.I can get completely new DA2, Crysis 2, Homefront for only $28, however consoles version cost almost twice the more. Aren't cheap PC games a reason to switch to PC?

Because it is easy to fix the games that didn't have much going in there to begin with. All of them are really cheap if you wait 6 months to a year after the game comes out.... Look at amazon/steam for the deals.... if you want to pay full price or just more shop at gamestop.

You do realise PC shares alot of the console library right?...
and that GS says pc has higher standards and more quality games
Lol... and people are saying computers are most expensive. But actually in a long run it's cheaper. You're going to use the rig for at least 8 years without upgrading and without a problem. Unless you want to play to the maximum experience entire time, that's a different story.sethman410True. The only thing I seem to upgrade is RAM, which is hilariously cheap. My rig's on its 6th year now, though next year may be the time to upgrade.... :P
The problem with saying licensing fees beyond the initial $10 customary difference is the much lower cost of PC games over time.
The problem with pointing to buying trends among console gamers, i.e. "they buy the big new thing, then nothing" is that would result in old console games being cheaper than old PC games because of the lower demand and this doesn't happen.
The problem with saying console gamers are dumb is that it is a witless statement to make, offensive, and against the rules of this board.
A small initial chunk is explained by licensing fees. The cost over time I would assume is related to supply, demand, and competition. Widespread and popular sources of digital downloads keep PC game availability very high. In addition, PC games may have more competition such as popular casual portals, more games period, MMOs, and even non-gaming related PC activities that are right there on your desktop next to those games. All of these may potentialy be greater draws on a PC gamer's time than their console counterparts and have a downward pressure on the cost of games due to lower demand. And it's probably worth mentioning, although highly controversial, piracy as an additional downward pressure on the price of all games, but perhaps particularly PC games because, again controversially, there may be more piracy on that platform. Even if it isn't the case that PC games do get pirated more, or that even if they do it has a strong impact on demand, the fact that some developers and publishers have identified a belief that this is the case might explain their reactions to other demand data in the form of pricing.
