Is is also beyond just buying used games ( which I have no problem with) it is also renting games such as Gamefly, local video store, redbox, ect or even letting a friend borrow a game.

ARE YOU JOKING?!?! I can buy used Wii an xbox games at my local game store (NOT a chain like Gamestop, mind you) for 10-20 dollars. That's a LOT of money saved and frankly I'd rather wait and buy it used. I think many gamers buy used games and frankly it's insulting that Sony wold even propose to not allow this. It's like banning used Blue Ray's or DVD's from being played on your player. Seriously? That's just **** up.

1: there is more places to buy games then gamestop,

2: only new games like $2-5 off lol. it gets more don the road

3: you can buy used games from others for cheaper then you would paid at a gamestore and the seller would also get more

4: once you buy aq product. YOU should be able do what you want with that product

I've saved a lot of money by buying used. If there is a game that truly excites me I will buy it full price right away but for the filler games that I'm lukewarm about I buy used and I get get them for like $10 or less. That's probably the majority of my collection this gen.

I personally love buying used games. If its a game I really want I will drop $60 on it no problem. Ive bought plenty of used games that I never would have bought if I didnt get them for >$15.

I would never of bought Vanquish for $60. Instead I found it in the used bin at GameStop and bought it for $15 along with Enslaved and 1 other game. I would never of bought those 3 games for retail price.

How is banning used game sales going to effect me bringing a game to a friends house to play? I wont be able to lend my games to friends anymore? I wont be able to play my games at a friends house?

It infringes on basic rights. We should be able to sell and trade games. Just like how we can sell and trade cars, books and movies.

What about borrowing? And it'll destroy the rental biz.

Because its out of choice and i like buying used games which are not worth full retail price. for instance i would not say games like Madworld, house of the dead overkill, vanquish, Crysis 2, resident evil 5, Zelda oot are worth the full retail price. personal preference.

I was thinking they might link games to an account or something. Even then I wont be able to let my friends play some of my games. Also the PS3 only allows you to have your account on 2 PS3s. If they keep it that way with the PS4 its going to make things more difficult.

I can't alway find the games I want just by going what's on the shelf. I have picked up a few because they happened to be on the used shelf. I could always Amazon them, but that can be pretty expensive.

I don't buy used games, so I don't care if the PS4 blocks used games.

You don't know if the previous owner wiped their ass and touched the case and the disc without washing their hands. This is why I dislike used stuff. Not to mention the scratched discs too...

Doorhandles. Other people's mice/keyboards. Colonisation is far more likely in such places.

I'd be more concerned about the disc being unreadable once you reach a certain point in the game.

but would you buy a used car or a used house though? Probably the stuff that strangers did inside of those things would be much worse than what anyone did with a game disc.

Of course, used cars and houses are totally different things.

I also dislike used cars, not because of the dirt, but worn out engines and gear boxes from bad habits and usage. Some people just drive the car roughly when the car is brand new... You're supposed to drive gently for the first 700 to 1000 miles.

Also what if you want to play a game that was released say two years ago and it is hard to find a new copy? Another example you see a game sequel and think dang that looks good but I would rather start with the first one. It may be too hard to find a new version of the first game so you say well screw it then I do not want to start in the middle of a series and not know what is going on.

I guess you don't have a family that shares games amongst each other, or have multiple systems in one household.

That is not true at all at least as far as this gen and I doubt very highly every single game will be able to download next gen. I am not sure how many games PS3 has total but since I do not know I will use Microsoft as a example even though they have a larger game library and the 360 has over 1,100 games this gen but clearly not all of those are available to download. There is no way a company will have that many games available for download.

Im not talking about this gen, Im talking about next gen. Digital downloads didnt become popular until the end of this gen anyways. A lot of games that come out now you can find on PSN for preorder. Thats going to greatly increase next gen also.

It goes well beyond used games: 1. Rental market would die so no renting games 2. Want to bring a game over to a friends? Nope, unless you lug over your whole console 3. Want to lend a game to a friend, see 2. 4. With the scheme proposed, your console dies, well there goes your entire game library... and some other technical issues to boot.

Some people do care a lot because they probably rely on used games or they trade in their old one's because they lack the money to buy the new game. Personally I never buy used, very rarely, I hate the stupid stickers they put on the cases that you can't take off and you never can be sure if it's going to work right. Also my local GameStop has some pretty rude employees, it's not fun shopping in a place that has so much negative energy you know.

The only thing that bothers me about the no used games rumor is what if your system breaks? Or you want to take it to a friends house? There should be something you can do with that. Also how will you know if you like a game or not? You can't rent anymore, there should be more demos then. Personally I just wait until a game drops in price at retail, I still buy it new just not "Day 1" new. Most games are not worth $60, I just wait until they are $30-$40 usually.

Only games I'm buying this year at full price day 1 are The Last of Us and GTA5, but that's because those games are going to be REALLY freakin' good.

The same reason people were so concerned about ads on the 360. Its system wars. As a card carrying Lem myself, I find this whole used game block out thing to be the worst thing ever and it will doom PS for all time. Adds on the 360? What adds? I just play games n stuff. :)

Ads and not being able to play games are two entirely separate matters. I would most people would agree not being able to play a used game is a bigger deal than a harmless little square on your tv that's not even there while you're playing games.

So not only are they going to ban used games but they are also going to fill our new games with ads. Didnt they patent something that stops a game, plays an ad, then resumes the game?

These are all just rumors, patents are made for things everyday and most never get used. Sony didn't psuh ads on us this gen, they very well could if they wanted to, and considering they don't charge online like MS does, they could make a lot of money off of it. But they don't so I doubt we will see ads on PS4.

Though that being said, WipeOut does have ads on the games intro.

The proposed system did not have any consideration of online, so any PSN connection is useless, which is what made it both interesting and troublesome.

Some people like to trade their unwanted games in for money towards a new game. I don't buy used games either but I have traded in about 40 PS3 games this gen and have gotten somewhere between $500-600 for them all. Obviously I spent a lot more for them initially but it's nice to get money back to spend on future titles.
