All I see in comments are people going crazy about the fps when all I care about is no loading screens and amazing detail. The game in question is Assassins Creed Unity. I'm excited about the game but all I hear is people shiteing on it. Really?!

So... do you like higher FPS or how amazing a building looks in a game?

On PC, you can have both!

Not when it comes to Unity. Performance is confirmed to be terrible.

Compared to what?... 900p at 30FPS on medium settings with dips to the 20's?

If performance is bad on PC its worse on console. Its why you are gaming at 900p at 30FPS in 2014.

A 970 and acceptable processor should be maxing this game out at 60 FPS no problem. Anything less is unacceptable. I'm not talking about consoles because we can all agree console standards are so far below the realm of acceptability that it's comedic.

We'll see how performance is tomorrow with the day one patch.

Why should it be maxing it out at 60FPS?...

A poorly made game and or a demanding game doesn't abide by any standards. Which is what Unity is.

A GTX 980 can't run Day Z at 1920x1080 at 60FPS maxed out... and neither it can run Crysis 3 at 1920x1080 maxed out. Why?... Ones running on a horrible engine and the other is stunning. Unity is a combination of both... Its a poorly made game on a pretty engine.

AC Unity looks great, but not so great that it shouldn't be playable at max settings at 1080p/60 FPS on top of the line cards. Poor performance has more to do with the fact that Ubisoft cannot into optimization for the AC games.

You should read that thread on Neogaf then. There is a guy on there, running it without the newest drivers, without the day one patch and all while streaming it to Twitch on a GTX 780 and a i7 at 4GHz and he's still getting 40-60FPS on max detail with some heavy AA.

Me too, killing dudes and blowing stuff is fun !

Please save your AC comments, I don´t like AC .... and I have the entire collection ( include DS and PSP versions ), I find them boring as hell, but my son likes them so his daddy gets them for him.

Anyone who tells you that they can tell even the slightest difference between say 50 and 60 fps is lying through their fucking teeth.

You can notice a slight difference between 30 and 60, but it still isn't earth shattering unless you play a shitload of online shooters.

This whole 1080p/60fps argument is retarded. And that's coming from a PC gamer.

It's mostly benchmark whores who are obsessed with this shit. The same goofs who pay $500+ for a GPU, and then run out and buy another one 4-5 months later when the new line comes out just so they can get an average of an extra 4-5 fps in some games, which isn't going to be visible to the human eye in the slightest.

I'll take fps over resolution.

so between 720p/60fps, 1080p/45fps and 1440p/30fps what would you take

720p/60fps all the way baby :P

me too, sick of people freaking out about resolution, resolution doesnt help gameplay. We get games to play them, they arent movies, FPS>>>>>Resolution

FPS is the most important element of a video game, because gameplay depend on fps.

AC:Unity is unoptimized dogshit and shouldn't be supported on any platform, but there are those guys like TC that grab everything sadly and making this industrie even worse!

I don't go overboard with both framerate and resolution. So long as framerates stay at least 30 and preferably 40's and higher, I'm happy.

I'm more concerned about latency that could cause stutters. I can have framerates 60fps and above. But, if there's latency that's causing the game to stutter, then having those extra framerates would be pointless. Having lower framerates isn't necessarily bad so long as the game is playable.

I also don't mind lower resolution so long as my viewing device matches. For example, I don't mind 1366x768 or 720p on my 14" 16:9 laptop screen. On the other hand, 1366x768 on anything bigger (eg my monitors and TVs) would suck.

You can really see details and smoothness without a stable framerate. You must not play online much?

you shouldn't have to choose one or the other. if the systems had been built to today's standards they would both be running everything up to 120fps @ 1080p, maybe 60fps @ 2160p.

but if the question is which is better, than neither. i would rather have a good in between with at least 45fps hopefully 1080p or higher than. but that also has to include the depth of field, anti-aliasings, bloom, high anisotropic filtering, good shaders, good post-processing, etc.

you are just wrong. Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition finally came out and I was ecstatic. Loaded it up and it felt like a slow motion nightmare, locked @ 30fps. I got about 10mins into it and just stopped. DSfix came out and it was like a whole new game running @ 60fps.

Is this a serious thread?

The big deal is that the game appears to drop frequently to the 20fps range, which is a problem. In that range the game become sluggish and erratic. Meaning IT'S NOT SMOOTH GAMEPLAY. Most people can deal with 30 fps, but those dips are horrendous.
