I'll admit, I've never really seen the allure of racing sims. Does the gameplay really change from iteration to iteration? Aren't you just driving around a track, trying to beat other people? Yes, you get more cars and prettier graphics. But what really changes? What makes you keep spending money on a new racing sim?
At least with games like RPGs, you have a variety of gameplay elements (even among a certain kind, like JRPGs). With RPGs, RTSs, FPSs, TPSs, etc. you can have involving stories. I suppose the physics get better as time goes on for racing sims, that's something.
Why do you people (the ones discussing Forza 2 and GT5) go on and on about these games? What is it about them that make them so important that they must be discussed to death?
I realize I may have come across strongly here, but I really do want to know what people find so great about these things and why this specific genre seems to be of so much concern on this forum.
