i also wonder why shooters are so popular on consoles. The controls just dont work well . The graphics age pretty fast to on consoles . FPS games are always way better on the pc.

I am not a huge fan of fps games these days. There is just way to many of them on the market. I guess they are easy to make. you just run A to B and shoot everything in between. So devs dont have to think much on how to change game play .

I prefer controller to m/kb for shooters, and you get more bang for your buck with consoles.

They're not terrible, they work fine for most occasions, though I don't have a lot of fun with them due to the frustration stemming from the lack of precision and speed.

I personally think Halo 3 is the 2nd best online FPS since CS 1.6, so I donno.

If you are Bungie you can make console FPS controls feel perfect.

Well your quote is correct for cookie cutter games, but thats the same problem with me. Games like Left 4 Dead, and the upcoming MAG actually spawn up some pretty original ideas.

Shooter games are just as popular on the PC as it is on the console, but as mentioned in a previous post, the console is just more convenient for the more casual gamer, not to mention casual gamers are more in the masses than scrim freaks like me.

And by all means, FPS games are not easy to make; you should be aware that FPS games use common game engines, so in that sense, they require less time and funding to create. Game genres like RTS and Fighting can rarely be built effectively off of mainstream game engines, so you don't see as much of those.

If I had a PS3, I would be pissing my pants over MAG, but on the other hand, Heores of Newerth is a great game that everyone should try. And for you Dota people who haven't tried it yet, what the **** are you waiting for?

Cheers.

I have to agree. Well, I find Dualshock controllers to be a lot less accurate then 360 controller. With a little auto-aim, its works fine. I was playing a PC shooter, and I dont know if its my mouse or what, but it was impossible to shoot accurately.

Well I understand FPS are better on PC. At least that's what people say. I play BF2, and I also like console FPS. I look at it like this: I enjoy going to see the Yankees play baseball. It's the Majors, and in some years there has never been better teams at it. But I can still go and enjoy single A baseball. These are athletes playing the game no where near the level the Yanks play it, but it's still baseball. Console FPS are still games, and shooters. I like games and shooters. No need to compare and judge, just sit down , power up, and have fun.

The controls for console FPS are fine, people on consoles are used to controllers so the dual analogs are just fine. They are popular because they are the easiest online games to just pick up and play, and easy for devs to make. They also make alot of money because its the kinda game you cant share.

Because not everyone plays on a PC and shooters have proved to work well on them after dual analogs where correctly implemented and popularized by certain franchises.

LMAO, I never understood that either, definitely when Halo has more balanced weapons too, people need to stop believing that. My brother's 1st FPS online was COD4 and even he did well and he doesn't even play FPSs.

Halo does have awesome controls, and it did perfect it in the sense that Halo is more tactical than other FPS'es. So the slower change of pace goes very well with the controller.

Which are you blaming my fanboy goggles on? I was playing BF 2 on my PS2, and honestly, (this game has a crap load of aim assist too), I was sniping, and the controller was so innacurate. I've never had a problem like that with my 360ng controller. Mouse, well, I was just spraying everywhere. Could be me, or my mouse, but it was hard. Please, dont tell me to take off my fanboy goggles, when I never had them on.

its not that hes a fanboy, most people who are new to pc shooters can hit anything like me lol. It just takes an insane amount of practice to use effectively especially online because everythings moving so fast, even if I have a good oppertunity to shoot someone i like get excited and move my wrist a little and my reticule just jumps upwards and i completely miss

I always enjoy these threads. Better is a matter of opinion. What works for one does not mean its going to work for another. Why do people care? You want to try and persuade everyone to like what you like? Its never going to happen.

I wonder why the PC game sellection at WalMart has gone down to nearly zero over the years? I wonder why the comunity for PC has to make mods themselves? Cause developers simply dont care about PC anymore.

Go ahead...flame away. I dont really care. Some drive Fords some drive Honda...Who freakin cares.

The way I see it, mouses and controllers are just preferences. Someone might enjoy using the mouse more than the controller, another person might enjoy using the controller more than the mouse, but options are fine people have different tastes. But it is a FACT that mouses are better for FPS'es than controllers.

Once you learn to keep your hand firm it becomes much more satisfying to aim on your own, no matter the adrenaline rushes you may have.

It doesn't really take practice, it's a mental thing, you just have to get you don't have to move your hand and everything will work fine from there on.

Worked wonderfully for me at the UT2004 times, and worked wonderfully when I picked up online FPSs again with CoD4. It's not really hard.

Yes if you really have a crappy laser mouse that is your culprit. A cheap laser mouse is not as accurate as a standard clean 'ball and socket' mouse. The short and simple reason being that the laser does not pickup your intire movement like a traditional mouse, there are gaps where it is reading nothing while your hand is moving......this happens to be very important in shooters. The only laser gaming mice that u can get away with are the more quality logitech ones such as the MX1000 and 800.....they use a propreietary method that allows them to map out an outragous number of pinpoint movements. But you still have surface types to worry about. The long version of why it is counter productive to use most laser mice for gaming can be found via google....I think IGN even has old articles on the subject though I could be wrong.

this titnst good when cosole and fps mixed together. They flood like an infestation and they are obsolete to pc fps. Consoles shouldn't have that many fps, it should have many games that work well with controller such as platformer because its not good to play platformer with a keyboard.

Your post actually made a lot of sense until you went into console fanboy mode in paragraph 2, completely nullifying your first paragraph, and therefore making you a hypocrite. That's really a shame. If you really don't want to sound like a fanboy when you bash something, at least try some new arguments, other than the same ones that have been proven wrong a freaking billion times.

Hanass

Your post actually made a lot of sense until you went into console fanboy mode in paragraph 2, completely nullifying your first paragraph, and therefore making you a hypocrite. That's really a shame. If you really don't want to sound like a fanboy when you bash something, at least try some new arguments, other than the same ones that have been proven wrong a freaking billion times.

Leave him alone, what he said obviously proves he doesn't know a bit about PC.

Ever heard of DD, Steam, Impulse?

Or, Day of Defeat, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike...nope, eh?

Dual analog is pretty awul for shooters, but shooters are simple mindless games that people can waste hours of time on, so they're popular.

Shooters are popular on PC as well. People just like shooting things, no matter what they are playing on. PC shooters aren't better then console ones. They are just different, like JRPGs and WRPGs.

Do NOT come here posting your opinions as FACT because they arent. Its your OPINION that shooters are better on PC...OPINION!!!!!! ONLY OPINION...God people get on my nerves

IF I have played fps on pc "which I have" and If I was really good "like I was" .....THEN....I played fps on console "which i do"...And I liked them "which I do" then How in the H$%^& can I be wrong?????????????????????? HOW!

Better is OPINION ONLY and always will be no matter how many times people come on here pushing it as fact.

more players online and little to no hackers. Pretty much any PC shooter is unplayable due to the hackers. ESPECIALLY crysis.....woooooow... and some (a lot of gamers) actually prefer controller over m/kb....like me... :)

They are easy to control on the current gamepads. The two analog stick configuration is perfect for a FPS type of game. The triggers also make the games more accessible. Either that or we are all secretly a society of violent sociopaths and games suppress our violent nature so we don't go round in a killing spree.

[QUOTE="tagyhag"]Auto-Aim. And here comes my assumption: Most shooters are mainstream, most console gamers are usually just mainstream gamers.

thats pretty much it. there are lots of nich shooters on the PC but most of the time they are just mainstream shooters
