I'm not a fanboy of companies. I've never defended the system I have nor have I attacked the others.

I am a fanboy of particular game franchises, however.

Except the Wii. I hate the thing with a passion.

I'm considered a Sheep around here. Long ago, I was a diehard Nintendo fanboy. Didn't buy or get my parents to buy me a Playstation because I was so loyal to Nintendo, but I learned my lesson. It doesn't mean I'm not a Sheep anymore though. I currently have all the systems of this gen, even handhelds.

There's no getting around it, you will be bias towards a company or system. The reason you become loyal is because the company gains your trust. Why do you constantly buy from the same sneaker company over and over again? It's because you like their product(s). It's inevitable. You will side with one of us!

I know your 360 has broken a few times... but I assure you not all of them are like that. I have had one for over a year and have not had a problem. In my opinion, it's a great console. Plus the halo editions seem to be fixed.

As for fanboys... they just have nothing better to do. All of the systems have there strengths and downfalls.

There's always been fanboys, but I blame MS for creating a whole new breed of them. The almost violent anti-sony agenda on almost all gaming sites is just completely over the top and downright ridiculous.mismajor99

then you obviously weren't here at SW last gen when the PS2 fanboy Cows and their "almost violent anti-xbox agenda" polluted this place on a daily basis. Face it, there have been fanboys since the NES vs Sega days but back then it was just trash talk between people face to face, with the internet and message forums like this you simply see more ofthem compared to the old days so it seems like there are more. And lets face it, System Wars has invited new fanboys since its debut here in 2001.

This is probably more appropriate on a blog, but hear me out:

Fanboys.

While most GameSpot users would agree that fanboys are foolish to exclusively support one system over another--thus, missing out on many games--I see where they're coming from. I think it has a lot more to do than just picking console X over consoles Y and Z. And here's why:

Say you get console X for christmas. You play it through primary school, possibly through high school, probably every day for years. Needless to say you spend countless hours on it. You may go through tough periods in your life like, say, the death of a friend/family, or the split of your parents etc. And with this in mind I can understand where die hard Sega and Dreamcast fanboys come from. This system, which was there for through the good and the bad times, was just taken away from them like a rug pulled beneath their feet.

And what about Nintendo fanboys? The Playstation signified the arrival of a system threatening the existance of the one they love. This is akin to the fued between cows and lemmings nowadays.

Furthermore video gaming is a lot like television. You know that episode of The Simpsons where Homer is accused of sexually harassing that babysitter, when he was merely grabbing the gummy off her ass? Well, there's a line in that episode where Bart says:

''It's just hard not to listen to TV: it's spent so much more time raising us than you have.''

I'm sure there are many of you out there that feel the same way not only with TV, but video games. At times when your friends or family weren't there for you, video games were. Mario was there. Sonic was there. Master chief was there. If you were fortunate, maybe all of them were there. And chances are you've grown up enjoying all systems. But for those less fortunate that are only able to own one system. They are the true fanboys. And I don't blame them.

Of course this is only speculation and may only apply to a few people, but hopefully you can see where i'm coming from. I owned all systems by the end of last gen and enjoyed them all. But at the end of the day it's the Playstation I support because it's the one i've grown up with.
