Why are there so many people talking negative about the PS3?

First you shouldn't need random opinions from people you don't know to help justify your purchase.

I don't trash the PS3 at all, but I definitely do Negatively criticize it. Sony went in all the wrong directions in my eyes, and they aren't living up to the potential of what the system could be.

Look how much effort went into home, how much time, how many delays etc...all for something boring and unnecessary when they could be addressing real issues, and actually making PSN a better experience...it only takes small fixes to accomplish that, yet they want to drop all this time into Home...They know they can make ad money from it, and try and sell people 2$ couches.

Then they sit on gold mines like a FF7 remake, instead of pressuring SE. And what happens? FF13 goes multiplat.

I feel you dude, but the economy is pretty bad right now and people just can't afford them... All "parents/teens" see is a 199.99 price tag of an Xbox. I mean really how can you compete with that?? People don't relize all the extra content you much purchase afterward.. Blu-Ray player?? whats that? expensive movies?? why not DvD?? 399.99 price tag?? no way! It's life dude and im sure it's hard to find a decent J.O.B now a days. I love my Playstation 3 since day one (slept outside for 2 days and loved every min. of it)

I did my research on what exclusives, games, hardware, performance and all the extra goodies that are compatible with it. It was a ahead of there time back in '06 and there were losing money with every sell (Even too todays I think..). I don't know much about the Xbox and it's "great" online experience, but from the game lineup compared to the Playstations I have my liking's as we all do. Plus the fact it was released a Year earlier doesn't help Sony. I mean honestly, I'm sure everyone hurried out and purchased the first "Next Gen" console the first day (a la RROD im sure why..which scares me by the way)

Anyways I have a prefrence and opinion that says I was convinced by the Playstations specs hardware (Blu-Ray/PSP/Bluetooth/USB/BC/Games/Exclusives. etc. etc.) compared to what Xbox offers me. I don't hate or talk sh*t about it, but the Price tag and the way the economy is now It's hard to convince parents and teens that are looking for a next gen console to convince them into purchasing a 399.99 console.

Simple as that.

When a system is in third place, it's expected there will be a huge amount of both troll & fanboy posts making fun of it. Just because it is in third place, doesn't mean the system is bad and that it deserves to be flamed.

Because acording to sony the PS3 was suposed to be the best system (number of games, graphics, sales, etc...)

Thats not a bad system but it gets to much hype! The question would be why are there still so many ppl claiming that PS3 is the best system?

i don't think people do talk that negatively about the ps3 anymore, the biggest criticism it ever had from fanboys was not having many games, but now people are accepting that it's improved loads, and will be a seriously good choice of console in 2009 like the other consoles on offer.Mckenna1845

Yeah, it's annoying when so many complain about the PS3. I've got my launch 60GB and I absolutely love it. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Great choice of games, great online, Blu-ray, not much more to wish for.metalgear-solid

For those that are always talking negative things about the PS3, saying things like "Sony is going down under", "Most of 360's multiplatform games are much better than PS3's", "Blu-Ray was a bad choice", etc., I say, "Screw You!". First of all, I'm glad to have own myself a 60 GB PS3, & Sony does more than just video games. Second, PC is the best choice for games. I plainly enjoy PS3 games on that system because of my preference & because of the easier controllers, & true fans would realize that. They wouldn't be caring about graphics, etc. The 360 itself is a very good console, but it's not godly like. Third, I believe that Sony made a good choice to add Blu-Ray into the system, because this gives people like myself a chance to enjoy really good old & new movies in HD quality. Seriously, this kind of negative talk that makes me appreciate the PS3 more, I don't know about you.garland51

Because MS plays on the ignorance of gamers and the mass market. Its better to slam than talk about your own product. Sony has some blame because the PS3 can do so much stuff its hard to sell one golden egg feature.

Plus the system is expensive. I can't tell you how many times I walk into my local Game Stop and hear the sales rep highlight the expense of PS3 over 360 instead of features quality and system offerings. I guess it makes sense to me sometimes that the expense of PS3 is out of line for the majority of game buyers out there regardless of the side by side tech sheet.

And where exactly are your supporting numbers for this? A stripped down 360 with no HDD goes for about $200 on the market. A 60GB version of the 360 goes for around $300 (give or take $10 or so). You can easily find a brand new 80GB PS3 65nm system for about $350. I guess that $50 + 20GB discrepancy is a huge thing for you, then? Contrary to popular belief, PS3 systems are no longer "insanely expensive" - something many 360 fanboys and otherwise uninformed masses would gladly have you believe.
