Why does everyone actually care who "wins" the console war of each gen? Every console still gets great exclusives and have new and innovative ideas regardless. Why is it such a big deal, who really actually cares and why?
I think it has something to do with human nature. Its part of our ability to survive and prosper that we can attribute so much worth to things that have no concrete meaning to our survival.
I think the most basic reason SW exists is that people love arguing with each other. Whether it be from boredom, or trying to justify the money they spent on a specific system, pushing other peoples buttons is a tradition that dates back to the dawn of mankind.

I agree with that. I also agree competition is good for the industry
to be honest that sounds like a bunch of kids in my opinion if you have a job just save a little on another system. and by the way if you have one system that doesnt make you a fanboy

I understand that most console owners are
its fun being a gamer at 20 dont have to miss a thing can have just about all the systems. except a good pc rig would cost a bit
It's more or less to assure that their choice is the correct choice. Some people own one system if they have a limited income and that's understandable; Owning one system does not make you a fanboy. I guess the only thing I don't like is when people bash one another for their choice of gaming system. System Wars is good harmless fun, however. I don't get into it (I like all systems), but it is what it is.
Think of it like sports. Only with three teams which increases the rick factor and competition making the industry better every day. And these teams loose and gain players (developers) which make or break their franchise. Kinda makes it really interesting if you ask me.
