Why are Wii haters bashing the Wii for appealing to casuals when they never even supported the Gamecube (back when Nintendo was still "hardcore") in the first place?darkmario123
I think that Nintendo made it pretty clear during E3 that they were going for the non-gamers. They showed families playing casual games in their video segments and left Wii Fit as the last E3 game aka the killer-app.
They focused their resources on the media, which is where the casuals learn about Nintendo products.
If they're abandoning hardcore then why is Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, Super Smash bros brawl and Mario Kart Wii all coming out in Q4 2007 to Q1 2008. What do you call those games? The only real casual game Nintendo has coming out is Wii Fit. All the 3rd party junk is to keep the casuals happy. Nintendo is basically doing no different than they always have done with their games.

Well duh. It's E3. What did you expect them to show?

Just like MS and 360: To actually show GOOD games. "We want to expand the industry. "We want the non-gamers". Enough is enough! Sony unveiled Infamous,KZ2 and more exlusive deals while at the same time showcasing more of the hardcore titles coming out. Nintendo showed........videos of how well they doing?! I think it's kindawrong of a sheep to protect the E3 07 of Nintendo. It was downright horrible.
I did support the Gamecube. :| We are disliked because we represent the truth. The only people who still believe that Nintendo cares about gamers as much as they used to are sheep.
They are called sheep for a reason.

i did support the gamecube, but to me it doesn't seem like the wii has a whole lot to satisfy hardcor gamers. granted, mp3 looks amazing, so does ssbb, but those kinds of titles are too far in between

I thought about this from E3 and I think the reason why Nintendo ended E3 with Wii Fit is because E3 is no longer the gamer's convention everyone so fondly remembers it. Even Sony and MS didn't have such great conferences and the attitude there seemed more subdued than years past.
Now what this has to do with Wii Fit is that hardcore gamers already know what games are coming out for the rest of the year, mainly, the big 3 from Nintendo. Why would they waste time dedicating games that they know will sell very well and the core audience they are targetting already know about it? Instead of doing that, they focused time on a product that not too many people know about and promote that. Plus, with the skepticism that is going around here since Wii Fit was announced, it seems like Nintendo was right in focusing their attention on it because they need to promote it more and it can be a potential great seller.

If you really take notice , it is not only the wii haters upset withtheir new philosophy ........ a lot of folks in the media are also upset andsome Nintendo fans are upset. I have even noticed some previous diehards on these boards like freeload that don't like where Nintendo is going. They crave new hardcore games and a better online approach. Some people want more.
It is time for sheep diehards to step up and demand more out of Nintendo or you will continue to get your same Nintendo frachises and mini-game collections.
The wii is the worst out of the three right now. I had a GC and played PS2 way more, Nintendo can't appeal to the casual gamer with their image, they are trying to appeal to non gamers. Also 3rd parties don't sell enough games on Nintendo's platforms thats why they will make more games for 360 than Wii.Riviera_Phantomnot really.

I hate when people say Nintendo always makes sequals. Sony has rehashed sequals, too (Final Fantasy what? 19?) and if Microsoft was around longer you know they'd be on Halo 14 by now.sexy_chimp
lol, quiet fanboy. FF games are not even related thus saying "too many sequels" void. They are not related. There are only 3 Halo games. In fact....lol, most of "sequel" stuff that comes out on PS are 3rd party made. You = owned.

RE4? Why do people say RE4 sold well when it was a GC game. It had a strong userbase from GC, the wii version is naturally going to sell well. 3rd parties were surprise? WTF fix your grammar.

Cube had one online game, thats not having online. N64 had less 3rd party support but it's 1st party games made up for that hence why N64>>cube in sales. Also Sonic on Crack is right, 3rd party for Wii is going to be decent but none of those games will sell on the system.

Yeah, yeah. Same games over and over again. Is Mario Kart even hardcore. It might be a old IP but judging by the gameplay and Reggie's comment the game seems to be very kiddy and noob-friendly. Where are all the M-rated action games? That question is too hard for even the greatest of sheeps.

Strange. Another thread here shows that GC had more hardcore games in it's first 11 months than Wii.

2 original games. That's overkill!
Nintendo stopped being "hardcore" with the N64. The N64 had Goldeneye and Zelda OoT, but that was all that appealed to me. Nintendo supports games that appeal to kids or Japan. Berserker_2
And yet I'm 21, I live in Georgia and I love my Wii. Hmmm.

I disagree....Metroid Prime 3 was made simpler and more accessible...Super Paper Mario was made simpler than older Paper Mario titles....and at E3 Reggie said that "whether you're a veteran of the kart series or a newcomer you should have no problem keeping up" It just sounds like theyre taking down the difficulty level on their games so that casual gamers that want to try a hardcore game can actually enjoy it more.
Why are Wii haters bashing the Wii for appealing to casuals when they never even supported the Gamecube (back when Nintendo was still "hardcore") in the first place?darkmario123
I sure supported the GC. And I own a Wii.
"Abandon" may be an exaggeration, but it's very very clear that the hardcore gamer is NOT their priority. The more substantial games will trickle out, probably grouping around the holiday season, but it would seem that the Wii is meant for everyone else except the hardcore.
