[QUOTE="donwoogie"][QUOTE="StreetRacer91"] How many people that are excited for Killzone 2 have ever played Killzone 1? There were tons of things wrong with the first one. The first game had the worst sound I've ever heard in a game. The game also could not get you to care about the characters much (Templar, Luger). The story has extremely good potential, which was the reason I bought it, but completely fails at even making you care about the story.
What does this have to do with Killzone 2 you may ask? Well, Killzone 1 and 2 have many similarities. Killzone 1 was a graphically impressive game on the PS2, and it looks like it will be the same in Killzone 2. It even has a new set of characters, making the characters in Killzone 1 obsolete. It will probably have the same problem with the lack of variation with enemies. But if all the same problems exist in the second version (horrible characters, story), why are you excited for Killzone 2?

Resistance had a lack of different enemies, but the original enemies were so damn good and smart that variation on type was not really needed, just a bit of tweaking of when guns they are equipped with at different points in the game was necessary.
Lets not also forget how awesome Killzone: Liberation was.
And by your token, GTA 3 should have suffered the same shortcomings as GTA 2 did. The fact is, a game can remain in the same genre as it's prequel and still fundementally change its approach to make it better.
The older GTAs were completely different from GTA 3. GTA 3 introduced revolutionary gameplay at the time with a do anything you want to style. So far it seems that Killzone 2 will be very similar to Killzone 1 in terms of gameplay with maybe some minor improvements.
And have you read the review of Killzone?
It's a functional shooter, but with a couple of extra coats of paint, Killzone could have been a whole lot better.
Killzone 2 is that extra coat of paint, painted by Da Vinci.
