It was a game hyped as AAA or AA got a 7.9/10 on ign. When i played this game, it was actuall pretty good and i could certainly see why this game became a system seller in japan. Famitsu gave this game a 37/40 and they are tough critics. I expected a good AA review from ign but this never came and the gamespot SW boardbecame an inferno.
I came to a conclusion that maybe there is a flaw in the way westerners review games. How can a game that became a swashbuckling sucess in japan be so hated here? The answer is because this is a game suitedfor the japanese audience and westerners look at it as another turn-based game. But now another question haunts me, should a game be penilized just because it appeals to a different audience? because if it does, there will be a double standard in game reviews as japanese games will be looked down upon here and western games will be looked down upon there. This will create further rifts between the gaming world, a unhealthy thing for the industry.
Has the industry become too big for just one standard in reviews or are reviewers letting their own frame of reference cloud their judgement?
