i mean live is good, but psn is getting better and its free, and arent blu ray disks more expensive than regular dvds? when u buy a dvd movie, theyr usually more cheaper than the blu ray version. the disk scratches easily and holds a lot less space. they should make 360 games at least 10 bucks cheaper than ps3 games becaus blu ray disks are just more expensive and better.

Just because a disc that you cannot add anything to can potentially hold more does not mean that its worth more in this scenario. The data is locked to the disc. It doesn't matter how much the disc can store, you can't do ANYTHING with that storage. That is a terrible reason. That and PSN isn't getting better per se, or at least, the free part isn't. There are premium features coming out, but as far as free PSN goes, its still what it has been for a while now. ...and discs generally don't scratch unless you do something to them. It takes a lot more to scratch a disc than people seem to think.

Why not? Depends on the game and the gamer I would think.

-Some games are going to be more popular on 360, meaning more people to play with and against

-Not everyone is careless with their disks so some people need not to worry about scratches

-The better service is determined by the user. Some people think PSN>Live and vice versa.

What would you do with all that space anyway? It's not like you've got a spaceship so you can explore it. Only NASA can do that. And why would you want NASA snooping around on your disc? Other people getting access to your console is a serious security breach. Why would you buy games for your PS3?

I'd only by multiplat shooters on the 360. It'll be more popular on that platform and everyone will have mics. For example BattleField 2's ps3 online kinda sucks because there's almost zero communication in the teams.

I just buy multiplats for whatever system feels right for the game. I know it sounds weird but that's how I decide. Some games seem like Xbox games to me and other seem like PS3 games.

chunkymonkey313

i'm going to literally address every point you've made:

1. well, if you already have an xbox360 to buy the multiplat for, then the live fee is a sunk cost

2. yes, but you're getting the same game. you're paying for the data, not the medium. in the case of movies, DVDs are cheaper than blurays because you're getting a lower quality product

3. scratches less easily, yeah, but if the game is only 7GB it doesn't really matter whether you have 2 free GB or 18 free GB on the disk

4. the games are the same, and if xbox could undercut ps3 on all it's multiplats and earn a profit, it would have already.

also, xbox360 multiplats tend to look better than ps3 multiplats (although not in all cases) so that and having more friends on live may be the driving factor to people buying 360 over bluray.

I have games from launch that are still highly playable. I guess it all depends how the gamer cares for their games.

Yeah, obviously, though what I do is install games I play the most, and when I'm through with one for a while, I'll delete it and install another.

since you still need the disc itself to play the game, can't scratches on the disk screw up the game even if you install it?

I wouldn't know since none of my game discs have scratches on them. :P

If I had to guess, I'd say no, unless of course the scratches were pretty severe. As long as the game can be read by the system, everything should be ok, because while playing an installed game, the disc doesn't have to spin constantly.

Ummm. That's a pretty horrible reason. A blu-ray/DVD will only hold as much as the devs are willing to put on it, regardless of space. PSN isn't getting better, it's adding stuff that was missing and including a premium service.

If you have more friends on Live, then it makes sense to go 360. Also, a lot of games still perform better on 360 (see the upcoming Bayonetta as the most recent example).

No, that's the movie companies charging a $10 fee more for a movie because it's Blu-Ray. ripping off the consumer.

1 blank Blu-Ray is like 1.25?

try some research please....

being the slow Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 and all.

not to mention games with mandatory installs, but usually are exclusive.

Because Cross Chat is boss.

But seriously, since multiplats sell higher on the 360, it's more likely that your circle of friends will own it on the 360, giving you more people to play it with.

I divide b/w PS3 and 360. I will buy FPS/TPS for 360. RPGs, half and half. Fighting games for PS3. Action/Adventure games are half and half. Obviously if one is TECHNICALLY superior (like Bayonetta), I will buy it for the system it's better on.

Why not? Depends on the game and the gamer I would think.

-Some games are going to be more popular on 360, meaning more people to play with and against

-Not everyone is careless with their disks so some people need not to worry about scratches

-The better service is determined by the user. Some people think PSN>Live and vice versa.

this.I bought CoD MW2 on PS3 as more of my friends were on PS3 rather than PC where none of my friends were just giving an example even tho PS3 version was a bit more expensive xD.

well. alot of 3rd party games have alot more online players on xboxlive. example. i bought burnout revenge at the pawn shop a few months ago and had no trouble finding people to race online. and that was a 360 launch game.... its hard to do that on ps3 games. as for dvd9 vs blu ray. there really isnt any thing better. blu ray is mostly used for anti pirating files and audio files. and finger prints are like scratches to dvds. i had a few blu rays that would not work because they had just finger prints. mean while i rent a dvd movie and its scratched to hell and back and the thing still plays.ps3 games and 360 games cost the same both are in hd.sony is taking a loss on the br discs on each game sold because they wanted to push the blu ray format with ps3... 360 makes a small profit because they used dvd9. not because ps3 versions are better in anyway infact alot of head to head games have been reviewed higher on 360...

several reasons, heres mine 1 360 is a cheaper console 2 multiplats have better framerates and better AA on the 360 3 can't stand the DS3 4 can't get PC/360 games for the PS3 5 not interested in blu-ray 6 don't play online so free wi-fi or online doesn't interest me basically, i am a multiplat person, and multiplats run better on the 360 and it's cheaper, so the 360 has been pure win for me this gen

Multiplats tend to be better (If you have a micrascope and enjoy pixel counting)

Xbox Live is the superior service, Better implementation, better social options, more compatible software.

ALL games on the 360 allow for blade implementation. The PS3 has a very limited in-game xmb, with SOME titles not supporting things such as custom soundtracks.

Being Live aware is a good feeling (Being able to view full profiles of your friends, sending messages, details on what they're doing and who they're doing it with. etc)

And ... My friends own Xbox's so i can talk to them whilst i play.

Plus the controller. IMO

The PS3 has it's plus' too.

Free PSN, FAR more durable disks (Im terrible at taking care of them)

Game without fear of RROD

That is actually a good point about Blu-Ray discs. Anyone who has been to a store can tell that a Blu-Ray disc costs more to buy than a DVD does. I don't know about $10 less but $5 for sure.

Hmm... that joke would have been more funny back in 06.

I have games from launch that are still highly playable. I guess it all depends how the gamer cares for their games.

And if you install games, scratching won't even be an issue. Heck, I have games I've played uninstalled a lot and there aren't any scratches. :D

Heck yeah. And when that hdd space runs out, you can just buy another one. They are really easy to replace...You could actually have 3 or 4 hdd. :P

Because if you're just talking games, it doesn't really need the space that a blu-ray offers (if it's a multi-plat). Pretty much all games are 720p ( WITHOUT IT BEING AUTOMATICALLY UPCONVERTED). Also, I think most multi-plats are built with the 360 starting from the ground up.
