I've played all Call of Duties except recent Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops II. While i really enjoyed first Call of Duty and its expansion United Offensive back in the day and Modern Warfare, almost all games are generic and very short single player wise. In multiplayer you get owned easily. Zombie mode gets boring after a while. And not to mention Call of Duty games are priced most high above rest games.

I've started to feel Activision is completely milking Call of Duty franchise, same old sh!t in new packaging. No one seems very interested in Halo or Battlefeild Bad Company multiplayer more over Call of Duty.

My question is How Call of Duty games sells so much and is so popular amongst masses? Don't gamers getting bored over same ol?

1. All of the games except MW3 range from decent to great.

2. CoD 4 was revolutionary, and, therefore, gave the series good rep.

3. It's accesible.

4. Advertising.

5. It's a shooter.

6. It's a multiplat series.

COD4 was a very fun game, havent played a COd since Mw2 so I decided to get BO2 to see if they have improved at all since I heard good things about it. Its... bad compared to what it used to be. They took out most of the real skill needed to play by adding fire and forget weapons.

You JUST started to feel Activision is milking COD? It's been going on for years. But how is COD "priced most high above rest games"? It's $59.99 like every other new game where I'm from.

I have no idea. Modern Warfare 1 and 2 were cool, but the last CoD game i really loved was CoD2, back in 05.

Why do you put a question mark at the end of a sentence that's not a question?

It's simple: CoD is simple, mindless fun to let off steam at then end of they day. People can come home from a long day of work, kick back on the couch, throw their legs up, and have some brainless fun. Many don't want to have to think when they game, especially after a long day. CoD is popular for the EXACT same reason people go to see Michael Bay films: they want to watch sh!t blow up. Fun while it lasts, but utterly forgotten once the theatre is left. Plus CoD is generally a well made series both mechanically speaking and presentation wise.

Rubbish sells to masses. Thats a fact. Not only videogames, but pretty much everything - music, books, wine, etc. etc.

It has something to do with the fact that most people never really get under the surface of things they do, never invest themselves, never gain deeper knowledge of anything, just surf on the surface and are content with it.

The downside of such way of life is that those people never experience the feeling you get when you find something really quality.

face paste, arcade, never stopping gameplay = sell.

It's a good game BUT they need start using that money by making them selfs put more into the games that NO one can compete with. Maybe JUST MAYBE  Once next gen comes and all consoles is rocking 50gb blue rays they load it up with more content

I think we going start seeing a decline in it though lol Unless They do something big again

You have started to feel they are milking it? >___>
It is so popular because it is so popular. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.
It started off with them making the only very hollywood action movie-esque FPS. And after that it went downhill fast.
Until BO2 singleplayer apparently. Critics say its story is pretty decent.
Oh and on consoles you have very few OK shooters. They don't even come close to PC FPS games.
Consoles are still pretty popular so it gets lots of sales from them.
So there are a few reasons.

Because it's extremely good at what it does. It's also terribly addictive and almost anyone can play and get good at it.

Say what you want about them but it's an incredible product and they brand, market, promote and sell it very well too.

People keep buying it because it's easy to pick up and play. Not sure why people keep spending $60 on the same thing every year. They get worse as time goes on.

Because it's far too easy to pick up and play. Kids and hackers swarm the multiplayer in equal measure because of how easy it is to play and hack.

Realistically this. If I wanted to be part of the internet mob, I would say it's because of stupid casuals and bro gamers who don't know any better.
