Optimization. The only reason PC trashes consoles today is because optimization can only go so far, and that consoles are released every 5+ years which age them horribly. Example: Find me a PC built in November 2005 that can come close to the graphics of this . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MouHr9D8ud8 . or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwywuVzrJTg . No pc built in Nov 05 comes close So we see that the console platform is much better for gaming, since devs can optimize games for specific hardware. But since consoles take so long to release the next system, pc demolishes them. So what do I propose? Release a new system, at the same price, every year. This way, devs can have the latest hardware AND optimize that hardware. PC gaming couldnt touch that combo.slarkyslark
Lol, find me a ps3/xbox game that came out 2005-2006 that can compare to a pc 2005 game, Ha!
So... they can optimize it better, since the hardware is static, but it still manages to look worse than the less optimized pc games do to the sheer difference in power. I don't see why Optimization = better game, all it means is more work to get it to run in the first place.

Thats why I proposed a new business model for consoles to remedy this

That's moronic, that would put console manufactures out of business, look at Sega, they tried to release hardware too often, and they burned for it. And it takes YEARS and YEARS to get that amazing optimization that you cite in the GEOW3/UC3 games, look at the initial releases from '05/'06 respectively, no where near as good.
What you want them to do, is exactly what it would be like to optimize for pc, 'cept that would kill the console industry, no installation, too expensive.
Hm that's funny, because it isn't true :lol:PC is superior to consoles in every way but
Too bad it doesn't have games anymore :(
All great games nowdays are console exclusive

I'm no PC gamer, yet I know that isn't necessarily true ;)

Thats why I proposed a new business model for consoles to remedy this You are comparing hardware and software at the sametime. The developement of games have phenomenally increased from past decade. Games from 2011 are designed to take full potential of the graphical power PC has. PC's are better in terms of processing power, graphical power etc over consoles anytime. You must be living in caves if you didn't know this.
I'd rather move onto new hardware to allow for more advance games then to stick with old hardware and consoles were released in 2006/7  show me a console that can do Crysis or Metro 2033 maxed out.
Optimization ain't some magicbro if you think it will get you things like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zhS4DuML5Qthen you have been fooled by all the prebaked goodies and what nots in your games.
. This way, devs can have the latest hardware AND optimize that hardware. PC gaming couldnt touch that combo.slarkyslarkThis way you would be stuck with launch games-level forever. Because devs would never have enough time to truly learn the new consoles hardware and to squeeze every ounce of power out of them.
Not to mention it would put MS and Sony out of business.

Youi seriously expect cunsumers to shell out $300-$400 every year, and to justify that kind of purches knowing in advance that what they buy will only be useful for 1 year?? :|
What the HELL is this.... I don't even... :?:?:?:?

And the reason console games are so well optimized is the fact that devs get accustomed to making games for the same hardware. If the hardware keeps changing, then optimization goes down. After looking at your other thread, i will say the same as last time - stop trolling.
Nobody would buy a console every year.
Fear 1 maxed out on PC beats any console game, PC's could do 1080p back then, consoles are still on 720, lol

Rome Total War doesn't actually demand that much though. The recommended specs say 512 RAM, for a PC that uses that RAM for other things too.I dare the consoles to run Rome Total War or even BF2 on it's max settings. Both games would bring console to their knees becasue of the lack of RAM.

what? fear 1 is an extremely rubbish game im pretty much amazed how that game was actually released on ps3 and 360 with no graphical overhaul.Fear 1 maxed out on PC beats any console game, PC's could do 1080p back then, consoles are still on 720, lol

It isn't true at all lol. Not only are most amazing games multiplat across consoles and PC, but PC has a number of amazing exclusives. I can't wait for Diablo III :).
The video you linked us too has been removed. But to you I say. Show me a console from 2005 that can play whatever game was in the video we can't watch.
So what do I propose? Release a new system, at the same price, every year. This way, devs can have the latest hardware AND optimize that hardware. PC gaming couldnt touch that combo.slarkyslarkThat might work if people were really willing to buy a new console every year, which would eliminate any price advantage consoles have over PCs, in which case you may as well just buy a PC and keep it up to date with comparatively less expensive incremental upgrades.
Not to mention that a year isn't nearly enough time for developers to learn how to effeciently optimize the hardware.

Lol no...just no! Fear 1 looks incredibly dated right now!
The graphics are dated, but looking at the games of today, i think the AI will stand the test of time.
