Because of $$$. HD DVD uses MS's compression format (VC-1) and the interactive menus on HD DVD uses MS's programming language. blu-ray uses Java for thier interactive menus.gmastersexayBlu-ray uses VC-1 too....it's been using it for a while now.

Yea and what is your point. It is up to the indivual studio if they want to use it. They are not required too.

What do you think will make MS more money? A format that that uses VC-1 for everthing or a format where the studio will be able to choose the cheapest compression technique.

Both of these players will lower in price. The beginning of this new craze will occur when hd-tv's become cheaper. Not when you could buy a 100 $ hd-dvd player or blu-ray player that can't play movies without a 1000 $ tv.
Also if it has no support what is the use of having it? It is cheaper but doesn't have any support making it absoloutly useless.

He's trying to say, if it's cheaper, and the consumers are grabbing it, the support WILL come. Please Log In to post.
