Crushed by PS2 fanboys it was, it was almost as powerful graphically as the ps2 aswell..
Games like Shenmue/Sa2/Soul calibur were great.
But fanboys expected "Toy story" gfx out of their ps2.. so it got pwned by noobs for nothing
Hell DC can emulate PS1 games better than PS2 could aswell.

Stop blaming DC's death on PS2.Â
Sega didn't have enough money to keep it going. Its a shame, because the Dreamcast was better than the PS2 at the time of its demiseMass_Effect
Bad accounting.
Actually, everyone should just be happy that Sega's accounting was so poor. If they had actually known what their real financial position was prior to launching the Dreamcast, they would never have released it.
As it was, one day they looked up and realized, "Hey! We have no more money!". So they had to halt their operations and re-organize their business.Â

Sorry but it is knd of true, people buying more dreamcasts would have helped sega's debt but the PS2 hype train ran over sega.

PS2 hype had alot to do with it. The dreamcast was sega's swan song; it sold well at first but that completly changes when the PS2 released. Dreamcasts stopped selling and PS2s became a hit.Â
