Why didnt Gamespot reviewed BG3?

I was looking for the GS review of Baldur's Gate 3 and I only could find a early access review with a 6 score.

Dont you find it odd such a revered game with worldwide praise and hundreds of accolades wasnt reviewed by one of the main gaming sites?

Is this because since they didnt put a review on it they are free to give GOTY to TotK by the end of the year?

From what i heard, they're dumb enough to think that the 6/10 for the early access they've given to this game is all that the final release is worth.

Probably due to the early access review is good enough and not warranted to do another review is my best guess.

Look Zelda is going to win GOTY no matter what as it has the most reviews of any game released this year, therefore it's going to get the most votes. It's just a popularity contest at the end of the day.

They are holding off for the console version because they don't know how to PC.

They also didn't review the System Shock remake as well. It's amazing how lazy Gamespot is getting these days.

Heard it’s a very long game with lots of different paths and choices to make. Props to them for being thorough.

Yet they make a bunch of articles on how bad Starfield supposedly is despite millions enjoying it.

That's because Starfield is on Xbox console and if it was just PC only, I doubt they'll take the time to review it if it were PC exclusive. GS did had a bunch of BG3 articles at the time before Starfield released.

Yeah. I've been wondering the same thing. They have published so many guides and other articles about it that not making a full review by now is quite odd.

Well, the PS5 version came out a month after the PC version. Since the GameSpot staff aren't PC gamers, they're most likely playing the PS5 version. It's then been almost a month since GameSpot started playing it, so their review should be up soon. Or they reckon that they missed all the clicks already and decides to not give a shit about it in favor of Fortnite articles.

Doesn't matter though. Why would you want to know what they think? About anything?

Sure, but they sometimes do an early access review and then an actual review - like with Grounded.

Is a full BG3 review somehow less warranted, even though it's the best-rated game of the year and the favourite to sweep this year's award ceremonies?

Like other people have said, it is a difficult game to review; so I am of the opinion they deserve some slack. I have owned it 3 weeks and I’m still very early on, no spoilers. Too busy playing MLB The Show 23, but I have energy tonight, and will get some Baldur’s Gate 3 playtime in.

I guess they could play it on easy, but it would take away from the experience. Although IGN managed to review it.

If you care about well written everything in the game, this is more than worth its full price.

I imagine a scenario where one dumbass head editor decided it wasn't that big of a deal and didn't bother to put anyone on it. Maybe they just looked at their "review in progress" of the early access and wiped their hands of it.

Gamespot has been dogshit about reviewing CRPGs for the last few years though so it's actually not really surprising. For context, they have yet to even bother reviewing Wrath of the Righteous, Solasta, or Wasteland 3, and it took them months if not years to review others like Divinity: OS2, Torment: ToN, and Disco Elysium.

Perhaps they weren't given an advanced copy because of that 6/10 and they were too pissed by the insult to update their review.

I mean, who has time to review one of the best RPGs this gen, when you can spend your time bashing another "one of the best RPGs this gen" with such ridiculous articles as "Cyberpunk 2077's Steam Player Count Leaves Starfield In The Dust" and "Starfield Is Bethesda's Lowest-Rated Game On Steam"?

GameSpot is once again "CowSpot". And, once BG3 was confirmed for Xbox this year, CowSpot moved on, just like the rest of the cows.

Seems pretty consistent with Gamespot's pride.

Can't say I've ever seen Gamespot revise a review score even when it's objectively outdated or misinformed.

Do they even have "gamers" around ? i thought all the gamers left a long time ago, GS staff is mostly composed by Twitter guys who love to write articles, watch Netflix and stuff like that.

Same, but they gotta at least let us know that they're reviewing the game. I was pretty certain that they were gonna just skip the review for BG3, even tho they've been covering the shit outta this game on GS, so it was kinda weird.
