well i loved gears 2... some of you guys say that r2 is a true sequel... well it wasn't that hard to improve on the first one(not saying its bad, just not great)... while gears 1 was a masterpiece and it's really hard to improve on such a game.

Probably the multiplayer that killed its chances. I wouldnt want a buggy, unfinished game to be nominated for GOTY. (Although Horde online is amazing). The single player really impressed me though, i loved it. They really should have spent more time on the multiplayer, took some tips from Bungie or something, because it really is a mess trying to get into a lag free match.

Then how was Resistance 2 nominated? Crappiest PS3 game I own. Can We all agree that the SP part of Resistance 1 was better? Didn't play it, but people on PS3 boards said no point going back to R1. It's not hard to beat R2 single player, so yeah, R1 was probably better there.

Gears of War 2 was easily one of the best game's released this year. Gamespot didnt even include it for 360 GOTY, nor did they include Fable 2. Gamespot's awards where nothing short of a joke this year, sadly.

I think that was one of the key features that turned it off for me, I despise that massive steroid popping power house look.

My dislike of Gears 2 isnt because they didnt improve enough... it's because they took a step back with the multiplayer. The campaign was better than the first though. But I played Gears of War 1 for two years because the multiplayer was amazing. I couldnt even enjoy Gears 2 MP for the two months I owned it. But that's just me.

I can't stand anime, manga, or most of that Wapanese crap, and I think Gears 1 and 2 SUCK. I think maybe certain Gears fanboys are insecure about a certain something, so they only play gritty and "badass" shooters to re-affirm themselves. How's that for in-depth? Gears 2 wasn't even best shooter of the year, or 360 game of the year, much less game of the year. Dead Space, Fable II, Crysis: Warhead and Left 4 Dead destroy Gears.
the game pissed me off because of how repetitive it became. you run forward, hear one of your squadmates yell out the name of whatever random enemy it happens to be, and then you get ambushed and have to fight. then you move foward, they yell it out again and you get ambushed. then you run forward...
