Why didn't Killzone2 win best graphics at E3?

A massive influx of new signatures showing clips of its greatness? What?! COD4, a multiplat won? Only reason I'm even bring it up is because I got called a fanboy for thinking that very same thing in NUMEROUS threads. In my opinion as well as GS, Call of Duty 4 looks EVERY bit as good as KillZone 2. I guess with this award even better!:shock: ON top of all that, we all get to play it real soon. I of course owing a 360 will be playing the beta in August.:D Heil68

Hmm....comparing a near finished game to a game with about a year of dev time left.

It's amazing that KZ 2 got nominated with this much dev time still left.

Guerrilla Games said the graphics are a long away from being finished, some of the effects were left out for the E3 showing cause they didn't want any frame rate drops(that would have been embarrassing)

Edit: And the texture popping will be fixed as well.

Why would it? It's not exactly mindblowing in the graphics department, and most lemmings even recognize that.

Call of Duty 4 had its adavntages over Killzone 2. They showed more of the game , the game is releasing in a few months , and people got to play it. Killzone 2 is a 2008 title , the showing was fairly limited , and people didn't get to play it.

The real question should be .... why wasn't Halo 3 even nominated ?

Because there is more to graphics than just looking really pretty. It has to run at a good framerate as well and most accounts of Crysis describe it as not running smooth, there are noticeable framerate drops. So should a game get best graphics if it means you need an incredibly powerful PC with a state of the art video card (or three) to get the game to run chop-free?

COD 4 looks fantastic and runs at 60 fps for both single and multiplayer, and that's a marvel.

It didn't really look impressive. I think they are going for for gameplay, as they should.

They haven't seen enough of KZ2 to give a final judgement of its graphics. Only one level has been shown, CoD4 on the other hand has shown a few different levels(bombed out city, grassy field[from MS press conf.], and a boat during a rainstorm).ultima-flare

maybe because there was hardly anything going on screen in the Crysis demos they showed...

Actually, COD4 does not even look close to KZ2. COD4 looks great (one of the best looking FPS out there for sure), but it does not hold a candle to KZ2. I am not sure if you or someone you know has a PS3. If you have access to a PS3 and it is hooked up to an HDTV--you will see what I mean. I was so excited to see both of these games on my 60inch 1080p set--well after watching both--KZ2 blew all of the games clear out of the water--it really does look that good. Don't take my word for it--go see both running on an HDTV. You can download all of the E3 videos in HD right on to the PS3 and then easily compare them on your HDTV. Anyone that does this can cleary see that they really are not comparable.

Also, Crysis is the best looking of all of them. As far as consoles go--KZ2 looks better than anything currently shown on consoles. What is more amazing is that it is still so early in development.

And to answer your question why COD4 got top honors--that is a great question--as there are probably a dozen games that look better than it--MGS4, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc--all look better than COD4. I think maybe because it was actually playable on the floor for the press to try out and many of the other ones like MGS4, KZ2, etc were not. I think it won by default of it being playable to the press, versus all of the other games being trailers or only playable by the devs to show off their game.

Yeah I really can't understand all this praise for COD4 graphics. Don't get me wrong I'm sure the game will play really well, and I understand that it deserves praise for running at 60FPS but Crysis, Killzone2, and UT3 all seem to look better graphically. I've watched all the HD gameplay footage of these 4 games at Gametrailers and I think COD4 is the worst graphically. Killzone2 has better lighting, much better physics, better animations, better effects, better character models. COD4 doesn't even have destructible environments, it's grass/foliage is laughable compared to Crysis, and UT3 has much better textures. Can someone please post some pics of COD4 and explain to me why it has the best graphics in existence? I'm really not seeing it. Crysis has the ebst graphics at the moment, and Killzone2 is second.

Because the graphics for halo 3 are nothing special at all, a big sign that the developers are a little cocky. Also a bad sign for the game itself. Still gonna get it though, but first I have to get my 360 fixed.......

Well I'm judging this on the new vid from over at IGN. Colors look washed out and faded so the textures look horrible. On top of that the gameplay looked very generic, ala Resistance. The only thing I was really impressed with was the animations.

Any way, I'm much more excited for Halo 3, Crysis and UT3. Unlike KZ2, they look like they will be very fun to play.

Oh and the only opinion that matters is my own.
