On  the wii mote its the same as the 8 bit controller.  I love the 360 controller but it's d-pad is just horrible.  The Wii has the nes one which is still the best and most functioning one.  How hard is it for a company to go with what works?

Yeah, the D-Pad on both PS3 and 360 suck really bad, but then again, the D-Pad sucked on all consoles last gen. Thank god I gotten the CC for games because the GC's D-Pad sucks!

Well... everyone copies everyone, however in this case, MS didn't do it because they wanted some kind of originality. The problem with the Nintendo D-pad (IMO) is that it's just too small. The Gamecube and the GBA, DS and the Wii all have the same tiny D-pad. It doesn't work well for me. I am a big fan of the Playstation D-pad however. No, not just because I'm a PS fan, but because it's confortable and larger without being too large. I also like how on the surface of the PS controller, the D-pad is seperated into the four directions. I do agree that the Xbox D-pad is unconfortable though. However this time around, the controller in general is better than it's predisessor.

There is a little thing called copyright infringement.

Doesn't the Nintendo D-pad not do diagonals? Like Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest? That would cut out half of its functionality. (imagine Oblivion with half the hotkeys.)

It does. You press up and right, you'll be going northwest.

I kind of like the Dpad. In my opinion the worst Dpad ever was the Gamecube's. It was way too small.

If you press up and right you'll go North East

I like the Playstation D-PAD, but that is probably because I've always liked the PS controller better.

The game cube's D-pad sucked because it was tiny. but I cant think of any games that use it for a main function (Soul caliber 2 worked well with the stick, I could actuallly do summon suffering with it)
