Umm, Halo 1 most certainly did not have a gigantic marketing campaign behind it.

yeah i realize it isnt an original game

its inspired by pretty much every other FPS out there

but it does everything well and has an interesting story, and weapons

it was a pretty great game.....

Thats true but thats where points A and C come into play.

Because it was on PS3. Seriously alot of people still don't have it and are waiting for another price drop. It may be a great game but it launched on a 500/600 dollar system that only rabid fanboys bought in the first few weeks. Halo1 >>FOM IMO. Halo 2 ??? I don't know about that one.

Because people expect launch game to suc. RFOM is on par with other well-polished FPS. Nothing wrong with resistance and Online is good.

Resistance online was criminally underrated.

However, the game isn't as popular, simply because the game is grossly, grossly imbalanced. And IG bricked the online game by releasing several patches that made the game worse. Thousands of PS3 owners played this game reliously for 6-8 months because the other games on the PS3 were almost total garbage.

IG could've kept a stranglehold on the PSN if they listened to the damn players on their website and forums. But a ton of gamers became fed up with it, and as soon as the slightest bit of competition came along, a bunch of players booked it. Players left Resistance to go to freaking R6Vegas, a sorry excuse for a game. Thats how desperate players were.

The lag introduced with international servers, the bs that is Gamebattles, and the release of Warhawk has all but killed Resistance.

ill tell you why...

1. FoM flopped, halo didnt

2. playstation shooters blow cause of controls.

3.its not halo

It was being played on a 600$ console.

Not everyone can afford a 600$ console.

Well Resistance lacks that wow factor that most legendary games have. The only thing that was really great about resistance was the 40 man thing online other than that it didn't have too much going for it. Just not enough weapons, and other things to make the game stand out. However, there will be some legendary fps games come Nov.

Also, I truely believe that sony screwed up with Resistance by not including a headset with the game for $60. I would have bought the game had they done that but instead I waited all the way till warhawk came out just to buy a game and now there is no point in buying resistance.

Resistance was a very fun game, I enjoyed it very much. However, the online portion is not as good because it is on the PS3. The playstation brand is not known for FPS and the online community is not that developed/good, IMO.T_0_D

I agree with the above. I still feel that RFOM was a completely generic FPS. In my opinion, reviewers were caught up in the PS3 launch hype and gave it a much higher score than it deserved. Many people disagree, that's just how I feel.

Not only is this easily the best of the Xbox launch games, but it's easily one of the best shooters ever, on any platform.

I think it was something abit more special then Resistance for its time;)

I honestly havent played it, so I'm going to assume it's as good as Halo was for the xbox. In that sense, I think it's the marketing and the ps3 itself. The more people have a system, the more play it, the more show their friends etc. I dont know anybody with a ps3, but if I did, I would play it. Almost every gamer I know has halo, so thats how it is.Metilco

Why would you assume that it is as good as Halo was? Halo didn't just sell more but it was also much more acclaimed than Resistance and didn't have that much marketing. It also was on the Xbox which was a new console with no fanbase.
