Why Didn't X360 Outsell PS3?

Right now they are pretty much tie or the difference between them is miniscule.

I ask this question because in NA X360 launched a year earlier and here in Europe X360 launched 16 months before PS3. But most importantly, when PS3 launched it was £425 and X360 was £209(Core) and £279(Premium). In addition to that, X360 has enjoyed two holiday seasons and had killer titles such as Gears of War. 

Therefore, with all these advantages, why didn't it maintain its worldwide lead? I really can't see any reason why. Blu-ray?

The PS2 is and was the greatest gaming console. Sony had a huge fanbase. The fanboys waited and didn't buy the 360 until the PS3 was released. The PS3 then sucked and everyone went back to the 360.

Live fee, less nongeneric quality exclusives, hardware issues.

Looking at Sony and MS console portfolio, and the hype supporting PS3 in 2005/06, a better question would be: Why didn't PS3 outsell 360 like 4-1?

360 was a great console (especially in the first half of the gen), and sold alot compared to MS's previous console.

And just last week there was an article on GS saying the 360 had like a million more than the ps3.. once again cows live in their own world.

Sony had a much greater brand advantage in gaming worldwide. Also, Sony had existing distribution channels for game and other hardware products in far more countries than MS.

360 was never going to sell in Japan against 2 entrenched homegrown products

RROD was an epic level fiasco that went on and on for years

Sony reacted early with a significant price reduction

It had terrible games. And also people wanted to play quality games so they had to by a Playstation 3.

Going by previous generations, consoles that launched first, usually won. Except for Sega due to its severe financial troubles.

I don't see why it should concern a normal person anyway.

All I know is the ps3 looks, all things considered seems to have been/ is the better investment thus far this gen.

But even if someone did buy the 360 in the past... it's hardly the end of the world or something to fret about.
