Why do a lot of people hate on the PS3?

You know, the hate on the PS3 didn't start with the PS3.

WHOOOBOY, you should have seen the PS2 hate. BOY, was this place intolerable back then.

If the PS3 is lucky, it won't see that kind of Hate. Either way, It's always been bad news for Sony 'round these parts. All the companies are cool, but you watch that Poll of yours, it's going to get nasty.

I don;t hate the PS3 but am incredibly disappointed in it. I honestly thought this system would be the hands down leader this generation before it came out, but then I learned how much it would cost, then how its exclusive game library was less then satisfactory, then how its controller was a downgrade from the duelshock 2, then how crappy its online play was, and on and on I saw thing that made me really think this system was the worst thing this generation had to offer. I also had enormous disappointment in this system because of how badly it tarnished Sony's gaming reputation. The PS1 wasphenomenal and the PS2 was simply legendary, then comes the PS3 which in my opinion is less appealing the then a box of tacks. This was a direct slap in the face to a previous hardcore playstation fan.

I sincerely hope the PS3 picks up the pace in the coming years and reestablishes itself as the awesome console it should have been in the beginning.

I don't hate any of the consoles out right now, and this definitely includes the PS3. It's an amazing console, and one with tons of budding potential.

Unfortunately, very few games take advantage of what the PS3 has to offer, which is why I hate PS3 games, not the console. The same can equally be said about the Wii and 360, but more so for the PS3.

I think the there are two main reasons. 1.) It isn't as successful as Sony's previous console. Think of it as revenge in system wars. 2.) It was overhyped. Anyways, it's not so much the PS3 itself that gets bashed. It's more so directed to Sony, who have the perception of being arrogant people who have a console with a... ahem... "unfriendly" price tag.

I dont hate the PS3..... I wouldnt buy one atm, but Hate is a horrible word. I hate to eat Beats, and onions. But I dont hate the PS3 :).... I just dont think the library is worth getting it right now over the 360. But now I have owned my 360 for going over two years now and between it and PC gaming I havent had time to think to much about another console. But I must say the Wii is kinda calling me.

Im sure ill end up with a PS3 later down the road when the big titles start rolling out. Im a big fan of Snake and the Final Fantasy series and owned both the PS1 and PS2, so I cant forsee not pickin up a PS3 once the Big titles come. I think they are finally getting down to the playing field now, since they lowered there price. So I think they will sell alot this year, not sure if it will outsell the 360 or not, who knows. The only thing that looks 100% is the way the Wii is pulling away from the rest.

I love my consoles, but I will always be a hermit at heart :)

I don't hate the PS3, I'm a 360 supporter, but I find it pointless to hate another console instead of enjoying my own.

What I do hate is stupid comments like, "08 will be PS3's year" which is wrong, because it'll be Nintendo Wii's year because Brawl and Kart Wii will outsell anything the PS3 and even the 360 pushes out in 08 and if you're a PS3 or 360 fanboy that states otherwise, you're lying to yourself.

Also hate the comment "PS3 still has it's heavy hitters to come" because again that's just a load. Franchises, are indeed a good thing, because established franchises tend to push out games of the same level of quality. But that's not necessarily the same case each time, so resting on the fact that MGS4 and FFXIII will be great is crap, no one knows how good they'll be. Look at FFXII, it wasn't a terrible game by all means, but you couldn't compare it to FFX without getting laughed at. Franchises do have slumps in form and I could list a whole heap of games to prove it (MGS2:Sub, DMC2, KH2, any SF 3D game, recent MK games, Mario Sunshine etc).

I tend to laugh at the PS3 fanboys when they say that Killzone 2 will own. Like I said above, there's no proof of that yet, but unlike MGS and FF, Killzone isn't a quality franchise, just because KZ2 is pretty doesn't mean it'll be great. For me, the fact that fanboys call it the halo killer will ensure that it fails, because if Halo is so bad (as many PS3 fanboys claim) why does it need to be killed?

Finally I hate the fact that just because Sony's heavy hitters are coming out to play next year, means that the 360 lineup will suck in comparison. Again that is wrong, coming into the PS2 two games totally blew the world away. They weren't sequels in a franchise, they were original IP's, the two were God of War and Kingdom Hearts even Gears on the 360 is in the same boat. Doesn't that alone suggest that maybe the 360 will have IP's stepping up next year? or will the only quality games come from "established franchises"?

Ranting over, summing up. I don't hate the PS3, I hate PS3 fanboys. (Feel free to flame me and call me a 360 fanboy btw).

This is very simple. Peope always hate onwhat they dont' have or what they think is a "threat" to their system. If somebody owns an xbox, he/she will probably want it to be on top so it gets more support from third parties. I think it's also kinda of human nature to hate something that is different to you.

to be honest with you, Gamers don't realize how good it is for us to have close competition. It's always better for us gamers when there is more competition from different companies because that would mean better games and price cuts and other goodies. People shouldn't hate on the PS3, but some do because they are, well, kids!!

IMO, right now at this moment in time there should be absolutely zero reason to hate on the PS3. I think it offers great value for people and it has great games plus it 's moderatly affordable at 399 and has free online, while it's not as good as the 360, still does the job well and for FREE.the PS3used to get a lot of hate before when it was pricey and didn't have that many games to show its power. the hype was that it is a superior console, and people simply didn't want to give the devs anytime to show it and they were bashing it.

Unfortunately, that's not even remotely true. Cows never dominated this forum, ever. During the PS2 days, they got it real bad. POS2 PHAILS again! EMOTION ENGINE FLOP! HOW MANY GOTY's DOES THE POS@ have vs the GC? Blah, blah, blah.

It's just the nature of what kind of fanboys this site promotes. Fanboys are bad, and there have been some real lame cows, but they never outnumbered the other factions.

Your opinion is in stark contrast to the rest of the entire world's, according to Sales (I think PSOne Quadrupled the N64 sales), amount of high quality Games Available, console's lifespan, and Developers that needed more room for their games.

The N64 was the Xbox of it's generation. Best FPS's around, and some good exclusives, but not even close to top dog.

Heck, there are PSOne franchises, popularized on the PSOne, that are still going on today!

Maybe thePatriots were right...with the idea of the whole S3 Plan. I mean, wow, humanity has just gotten freaking stupid. Call me cynical, but we can't even enjoy a hobby any more from the looks of it. The more I look around gaming sites lately, the more I wish that we could just eliminate the stupidity with a quick press of the Delete Key. It's sickening what has happened lately in the gaming world. I mean really, what happened to the days of just playing games for fun?

Practically everywhere you look these days in the digital forum, you will find someone hating on something. I don't mean disliking, I mean utterly hating on it. When did gamers become so bitter towards not only their hobby, but towards one another? What the hell changed? I remember back in school, in the lunchroom, it was talking all about Mortal Kombat II, and what the fatalities would be, and everyone had fun. Dare you bring up something like that online, and you'd get an unprovoked 5 page thread about how StreetFighter II is superior and MK sucks.

Why does everyone quickly jump to align themselves with a console manufacturer who only cares about their own bottom line? People will defend Sony, MS, or Nintendo to the death as if they were being paid for it! Why, oh why, would you want to be a fanboy of a console? I mean, I like to consider myself a fanboy of good games, regardless of what system they appear on. But goddamn, you speak a good word about something you prefer, and you have to deal with people who have never even touched the game saying it sucks, and their game is superior, and then how their system is superior. I can understand being opinionated or having a preference, but then it delves into bashing one another because they like something that you don't, something you've never even touched. How can anyone enjoy that?

It's a slow day, and MGS4 is in blackout mode... I guess I have to ask... do you guys have fun with this hobby any more? Like, at all? All I seem to see anywhere are haters talking about things that shouldn't matter to we gamers. Do you really have to be so bitter and hate on someone who doesn't like what you do? Does it make you feel better to ruin someone else's hobby by slamming their preferences? Does it pain you that much to enjoy more than one series at a time? I mean, is it impossible for you to enjoy say, MGS and Splinter Cell at the same time? It seems like an impossibility to many people online these days... one has to suck.

I don't know, maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm just tired of people overlooking all the hardwork and talent that goes into these titles, when the arguments about amazing visuals and solid gameplay are tossed aside for "my game is better than your game" arguments...

I don't know, discuss if ya want. But if there really is a secret global conspiracy out there, please, get that society control project going, because idiots are really taking the fun out of gaming. And that's why we get slammed by people like Jack Thompson and Hillary Clinton.... we can't even stand together to voice our opinions, as they blast us for being immature and unable to handle ourselves. Maybe they are partly right... I fear to think.

No way. There were some really loud cows, but they didn't dominate in numbers. This forum, even before I became a member was a heavy PC/Lemming site. The cows did have AAA titles, and they were mocked because those titles were ugly, missing AA, etc.

I remember thinking that good games didn't matter, it was the fact PS2 didn't have another GOTY, or PS2 had too many trashy games...as fanboy's wouldn't look at the good stuff.

Games like ICO were relatively unknown in this forum.

And no I dont hate the ps3 I just think the way Sony advertised the ps3 as TEH MEGATON system that would destroy the wii and 360. And now cows are finally realizing that what sony hyped is far from the truth.

Games like: Motrostorm, Resitance, Rachet and Heavenly sword have all been underwhelming to alot of people.

How were those AAA titles mocked on? If anything the Lemming's titles got mocked onmore because a big chunk of their AAA titles were on PC ie. Halo or KOTOR. The hermits never dominated the forum in terms of the numbers, they either had a console they alreadysupported, or did not care, or was justwas an elitist that tried to have the final opinion on every console war thread.

What I remember? I remember the huge amounts of Lemming bashing by cows when Fable flopped hardcore.

Although there were fanboys in every direction, do you remember how badly Eastside49er bashed the PS2, it was atrocious. He was a HARDCORE lemming, so of course fanboys would love to own him.

It was a messy time, but and although there were loud Cows, Lemmings, and Sheep, there weren't more Cows than the other factions. Just really loud cow fanboys trying to fight a horde of sheep/lemming fanboys.
