Why do console gamers talk about graphics so much?

All I hear from some of these console gamers is talk about graphics like OMG QUANTUM BREAK IS 720p ON THE XBOX ONE! and arguing over what looks better Uncharted 4 or Quantum Break. I don't understand why they claim to care about graphics so much if you care about graphics so much then why game on a console? Everyone should know by now that PC has the superior graphics anyway so these arguments don't make any sense to me. Who even buys a console for graphics? I know some people on this forum do this and I want to hear from them because if you're gaming on a console graphics should not be the reason why.

Don't generalize like that, it's not true. It's one faction here that's mainly the culprits and most know precisely which one that is. lol :P

720p vs 1080p is serious business especially when both console are at the same price.

yep, every gamer from every "creed" talk about graphical fidelity and compare it to other platform. THis is not a console specific issue. In fact, the main culprits of this kind of conversation are hermits. Mainly because thats all they have over the console world... shiney pixels

I've seen a lem and a cow arguing over graphics on this forum, then when a hermit says something like "neither are as good as PC" they then either say PC doesnt count, or they its about the games and the console experience not the graphics.

The only thing we can argue about is Art 5tyle and not graphics.

Well this isn't totally correct, the fact that this game in question is indeed a multiplatform release also liberates it from being stuck at sub 1080p!

If you put aside freedom of choice in input devices, modding,superior BC, free online among other things then ye it's only pixels

My younger brother used to be a console (Xbox) fan. While I enjoyed playing a handful of games (handful means 5: Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3) with him, I preferred my PC gaming.

When Gears of War released on the PC - I picked up a copy because I did enjoy the game on Xbox 360. I didn't do the multiplayer, so it was strictly the single player game experience I was going for. Plus there was an extra level over the console version.

After having to jump through hoops and changing config file data, I got the game running smooth on my computer and the graphics were so much better over what the console could do. I told my brother this and he said there was no way and that the console version looks really good and you couldn't improve upon them.

I told him when he comes up to visit in a few weeks to bring his 360 and GoW. When he got here, we hooked up the 360 to my 1080p TV. We played through the first level and I told him to keep an eye on a few spots and remember how they looked.

I then loaded up GoW on my computer and ran things across medium settings - he played through the first level and said things pretty much look the same. He didn't know I had the game on medium settings. So I cranked up all the settings to high and he immediately saw the difference and was blown away by no (or very little) jaggies and how things looked so much crisper/cleaner. This was the turning point for him - he slowly started to fade away from consoles and got into PC gaming.

I started him out with old hardware that he used for years and about 3 months ago he got pretty much a new build. He certainly doesn't have a high-end PC by any means by today's standards, but he's got a decent build that he can max most games on his 1440x900 monitor. i5-4590, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD & 2TB HDD and he's using my old GTX 570 while he saves up for when Pascal comes out.

Consoles have okay graphics. PC have great graphics. If you're a graphics whore, play on the PC. If you graphics don't mean much to you, play the games you like and whatever system you like and ignore all the other retards that argue about stupid shit.

Why would I want console games I can't even get through the PC games I have you console peasants are thirsty for games because you don't have any

Something I do miss about last Gen is we never talked about this crap. Or very rarely.

I think this Gen is different because Sony has used this rather than games the main selling feature. And the media is running away with it.

freedom of choice in input devices - USB keyboard on consoles have been a standard for many years (for games that allow it) which is the same restrictions as PC games

modding - Coming to consoles very soon

superior BC - Again, when you say superior you mean just running old games? sure i can do that on my old consoles too.

I know right, why even bother with newer consoles might as well go back to the PS1, that had 3D games and you could potentially make any game you want on that gameplay wise.

Superior as you dont have to go fetch your old console from storage(if you still happpen to have it), Ps4 bc? lol, Xbone one at least has some but most games run worse than they did on 360, this is not an issue on PC

Graphics matter. Less to some and more to others. It's been this way forever. It's why when the SNES came out ppl were blown away....it's why when the PS2 was released ppl were blown away.

It's more evident now bc there's the Internet and there's a major console that can't handle a resolution that was standard back in 2007.

Because graphics are important and they prefer gaming on a console. PC has the best graphics, but they don't want to game on PC. You had to know this, but still ask why.

If you are going to generalize like that about console gamers, then you must know the PC gamers here are equally bad about "master race" crap.

Because gameplay (or lack thereof) and format of these games has been formulaic for many years now. So any discussions about that stuff is redundant.

Graphics is the only thing that really changes / improves.

Better graphics than stuff like sales numbers. Bean Counter Wars? Yuk. I can see graphics when I play a game. The hell would I want to be thinking about some game selling more than another?

The PC doesn't always have to come into play especially if the discussion is about a game not on the PC.
