They try to exclude them out of the battle and try to call it next gen. how so? Because its graphics are not top notch? The wiimote is pretty next gen and revolutionary imo. Is it because its beating both of your consoles in sales? Come on i wanna hear your opinions.ILikeCatFoodManBecause nothing about the wii is next gen. The tech put into the wii or the wii mote itself. Motion sensing is not knew. MS started that some time ago. From a hardware stand point it isn't next gen.
This is where I would normally say something sarcastic but I don't even care enough about the Wii to have the emotional attachment needed to make the effort.
Congrats Nintendo gl in the future.

i don't recall ps2 being discredited last gen because of this:
http://www.gamespot.com/reviews.html?platform=7&category=&type=reviews&mode=all&sort=score&sortdir=desc
I dont care much about sales, i feel like the Wii is distroying the gaming community because now that its selling theyre showing other companies (M$) you can release crappy games on a dated hardware console with a new (but not that innovative) controller and hit #1. I mean i owned 2 Wiis. I gave the Wii 2 chances. One at launch and played LoZ:TP & SMG. Then i got fed up and sold it. And rebought one For SSBB. And once again sold it. Smash Bros was the best series ever, until the Wii distroied it with its gimmick of a controller (i went back to GCN controllers) and its terrible online play. Seriously tho, what does the Wii have to offer? new games on old hardware. When its big hits are preferably played with a Gamecube controller or hardly use the motion controls at all, you must think about it. What does the Wii really have to offer. (Virtual console is cool tho) The games arnt that much different/fun compared to older generation games.
In reality the Wii games are to GCN games just like Ps3 games are to PS2 games (or 360 games to xbox1 games). Theyre just prettier games with new stories (well ok Nintendo lacks that in alot of cases, MARIO!), and more content. then think about it, the PS3 and 360 evolved greatly (Ps3 more so) and while the Wii is an improvement over the GCN, it isnt that much further.
I can understand the argument that Graphics and processing power isnt everything, but understand that since the controller really doesnt immerse you in games like fighters or adventures you really arnt getting what the Wii is trying to do unless u play Wii Sports or shooters. Games just dont fit with that controller. Shaking your hand to spin isnt innovative, its just needed to be done due to a lack of buttons. While there is a chance for developers to properly use the controller, since its so cheap to make games for the Wii the majority of them decide to release mideocre games are best. But only the truely innovative games use the controller properly such as Okami. However the Ps3 and 360 offer incredible processing power which allows better graphics, AI, physics, and more actions happening at once. And to be honest picture realism is much more immersive than shaking your hand to spin or even to paint on a screen in Okami for the Wii. And more developers know how to make better graphical games with better AI and use engines for better Physics than know how to make completely different games like Okami.
So while the Wii has some potential, its really futile for 2 reasons. One, since its cheap to make games for the Wii any crappy developer can make a game that uses the wii mote and think theyre innovating (and itll sell). And Two, because i dont see why the Wii couldnt atleast have more power to accomodate its new controller. Why does the controller have the be the only thing improved?
Theyre just prettier games with new stories (well ok Nintendo lacks that in alot of cases, MARIO!),

you just described every sequal ever made, and who the hell buys mario for a story :?
I do not like the Wii, but whats to discredit?
I do not like it, but go ahead and enjoy it. It is one thing to bash a console another to say you do not like it. A lot of people do not like Wii and are instantly labeled by fans as fanboys.
I guess I am a fanboy for not getting much out of the console.

its new to consoles and its new to base your game around motion sensing
because there fanboys.....HULKMANIA_001
And because the Wii is a very unique console in a very unique situation. Never has a console been more isolated from its counterparts.
I consider it current gen. But it really does not factor into anything other then SW for me.
Because they are bitter. The Wii is destroying the competition and that really grinds their gears lol.Shenmue_Jehuty
I think a lot of Wii fans hide behind this to easily. The Wii has a lot of points open to criticism. Defend it based on its merits, of witch it has many, but not all hate is just a bitter taste.
That's a weak way out.
Once again, people are afriad of change. It's funny that someone with Asperger's can embrace change while other fanboys run for the hills.hiphops_savior
Ya, its all about fear. An easy scape goat for why not everyone loves the Wii.
Sadly, the Wii has many merits that can be argued, but Wii fans fail. They turn to finger pointing and name calling and saying its about fear, instead of arguing its good points.
i dont get why we have to argue about a console besides before buying one to see which one is the right one for you. i seriously dont see the point of it.
dont hate it if you dont play it.

In all fairness this is SW, and I dont think many gamers "take it home with them" if you catch my drift.
I don't think it's all "fear". Sure it's change, but that doesn't equate to "fear". To many I would point more to the word of "dislike". With the amount of support of big name franchises and large devs/pubs still pushing large amounts of software to the PS3, Xbox 360, PC I don't see where the phrase "fear" really plays a role, other than making it sound like the Wii's position is more empowering than it truly is.
I own the system, and like usual love Nintendo's IP, but I would "discredit" the Wii, b/c it's flawed imho on different levels that it should be much stronger in.

For example? I wish to know how you think it's weak, when it's a great deal better then the last Nintendo outing.

because non-nintendo fans do not get the fascination of Nintendo's titles. At least, thats it for me. So when a Mario Kart, Galaxy or Brawl gets a AAA score even it doens't matter because there is NO way I'm going to play Galaxy over Gaiden, Kart over PGR4, Brawl over DOA, or Paper Mario over Mass Effect. It's just not gonna happen.
So I just ignore the system completely. I'm not saying this is every "haters" way, but it is mine.
By the way, my favorite rapper once said "just because I don't like something, don't mean that I'm a hater". I just don't like it.

These are pretty much my reasons as well...its entire library is just unappealing to me. Im not a fan of the motion controls. I dont know...imo sales does not show the wii's real value to me. I'd take ps3/360/or even pc gaming anyday over wii but thats just my personal preference

Being "better" than the GC isn't exactly something to write home about. It's online lacks in features, and it really isn't up to par in terms of hardware be it graphically and otherwise. There are two obvious areas for opportunity.
Being relatively better than something else, does not mean there are not other things that are relatively better than it.
wouldn't discrediting the Wii make the 360/PS3 look even more pathetic for losing to it? ^_^
seriously M$/sony can't you beat a flawed last-gen system?

First the GC wasn't as terrible as everyone makes it out to be, it won the most Goty awards and had a good deal of AAA and AA games, It was overshadowed by the 300 pound primmate known as the PS2, but it wasn't terrible in it's own right.
The Online is bad yes I agree.
The hardware is behind, but the games are still great so I don't see how that's really a problem, unless your the kind of person who cares more about how many shaders were used in the game then how good the game actually is.
Regardless your response doesn't really answer anything. Relatively speaking the Wii owns the PS3 and Xbox360 in a few ways, and is owned in a few ways. But just because it's relatively behind IYO, doesn't mean it should be discredited. The two main arguments against the Wii that you brought up, aren't even that strong a reason to discredit the wii because the Wii clearly took a different direction.
In the end it's discredited by fanboys because fanboys think it's not good enough? Isn't that a non-sequitur?

I didn't say the GC was terrible, I really enjoyed it so I wouldn't say that.
The games are great (that's typical from a Nintendo machine, it's mostly them doing the great work), is it wrong for me to think that they could be even better? The Wii's hardware is lacking in more than just it graphical ability.
My response answers your question. I don't care what direction the Wii took, it's being compared to systems that excel in some areas where the Wii could have easily kept up with more had Nintendo tried.
You don't need to be a fanboy to think that it's not good enough. I could easily say that people are fanboys for thinking it is good enough (equal but opposite exaggeration).
