why do hermits think they have more/better games than consoles?

There are only 2 genres that the PC beats consoles in and thats RTS's and MMO's Unless you completely love those 2 genres there is really no reason to own a PC. Lets compare 2007 and up to currently 2008 between the PC and the Xbox 360. Ive excluded games that appear on both and included games that have huge score differences (more than 15%).

Why is it that hermits throw the phrase around the pc has the best lineup with the most variety when comparing thier precious pc's to a console such as the XBOX 360 or PS3.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ABOUT HARDWARE, ONLINE GAMING COSTS, CONSOLE PRICE!!!!

This thread is merely a discussion about the myth that PC's have better games than consoles. It makes me laugh that all these hermits make these threads about how to build a gaming rig for almost as cheap as a console. But whats the point. As you can see from this list consoles have much more quantity and variety of great games.

Well atleast your beating consoles in RTS's. Ill give you that much. ;)

Once again did you not read my post???? Please read it before linking to some spreadsheet thats supposed to be proof. I carefully laid out all the games and thier average scores for you.

6 of the 12 games that PC has above 80% in 2007 are RTS's And the only one it has in 2008 is a RTS. I told you i will admit that it has RTS's but in every other genre it is beaten or matched by consoles.

Last I checked we were on Gamespot not Gamerankings. Secondly even on GR the PC still has the most quality games on it. You fail either way.

And yet, you conveniently forget to mention that 7 of the titles you listed for the 360 are sports titles.

The problem with the PC is not with volume of great games, but rather with genre representation. You'll have a hard time finding great fighters, sports games, minigame compliations, and other such games on a PC.famicommander

you can add platformers to that list as well.

Mind you PC does do better in other genres though (FPS) and it has stuff like RTS's which are non existant on consoles

Overall the PC has access to better games that consoles. First off we need to look beyond the games you have listed. The PC has access to emulators for almost every past system and all of the awesome (and free) games on the internets. The PC has more amazing games than consoles. It's a fact.ModernTimes

On GS the PC scores are seperated into generations just like consoles are. When the first next gen console comes out thats when you start considering PC games. Even then the PC wins. The mere fact that you have to compare multiple platforms to one makes the consoles look bad and inferior. Something I do not wish you to do. All you're doing is making the PC look like the bully on the block that all the little kids have to join forces to overthrow.

Accept PC and Console gaming for what it is. But on PAPER the PC can never be beaten.

Ok so your basically admitting that in recent years it's been beaten by consoles? Im referring to the last 16 months i listed. And i know when hermits talk about how much better pc gaming they aren't referring to games im playing on my web browser at work or bargain games that were out when i was playing banjo kazooie. Im talking about next gen games. What has the PC had in the last year and a half over consoles? Stalker and Crysis, thats it and a bunch of RTS's.

Now im not saying that PC gaming sucks but it just seems that the PC is looked at as some god gaming platform but when you look at the facts in recent years its far from outshining consoles.

all consoles have are shooters, action/adventure racing arcade, flying arcade, fighting, minimal RTS, RPG, a few TBS, MMO , and button mashers

PC has shooters, adventure, racing sim, flying sim, flying arcade, racing arcade, RTS, RPG, TBS, Tactics games (TW/Civ), City builder, god games, MMO ect. not to mention all the indie stuff

edit: also, Gal.Civ. is NOT an RTS it is a strategy game much like TW and Civ are

PC is also better in puzzle and FPSes. And not every strategy game in RTS you know :)

Its also not fair that PC has to even wait until the first next gen console as it puts out games that look next gen well before the next gen consoles come out. So you complain that its not fair yet you go ahead and try to cherry pick a year. Nice try man. You take it from the begining to the end. The current gen existed before 2007.

Yeah and you know what its not fair to the PS3 or the Wii that 360 launched earlier. Its also not fair that PC has to even wait until the first next gen console as it puts out games that look next gen well before the next gen consoles come out. So you complain that its not fair yet you go ahead and try to cherry pick a year. Nice try man. You take it from the begining to the end. The current gen existed before 2007.

My favorite genres are adventure and simulation, both practicaly non-existant on consoles, so PC for me.

PC is also better in puzzle and FPSes. And not every strategy game in RTS you know :)

A reality check of what? That the PC still has the best games on Paper? It doesn't matter if you win a month, it doesn't matter if you win a year. It doesn't matter at all if you don't hold the overall lead. A basketball team could score less points then the other team in the 4th quarter but if they already dominated the first three they still win. No matter what cherry picking you use or what segments you pick out that the 360, PS3 won or whatever really doesn't matter.

Overall it goes to PC and that's that. The PC has MORE quality games on PAPER. And you can't dispute that.

I want you to do a little experiment with what you said. Go back to my original post and take away all RTS's and MMO's from the list of PC games then come back here and tell me it has the most genres.

Midieval 2- 85% (TBS World mode RTS combat)

Europa Universalis- 83% (Strategy)

Titan Quest- 81% (action/rpg)

Jade Empire- 80%
