[QUOTE="locopatho"]I love literally everything about it *except* the guard posts, which pretty much ruined it for me. It's just that there is no incentive whatsoever to sneak or snipe or do anything creative/awesome, when you know on the way back 5 mins later everything will have respawned...sts106mat
pretty much completely agree with this. so many people must have tried to play this like a standard FPS. half the fun of this game for me was the massive treks across the map just to get to the targets. favourite moment was when i sniped the guy giving the revolution talk towards the end of the first act from an absolute mile away.this same reason. it really really kills it for me. the other thing that drove me crazy were the towns. for instance..
Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3, Dragon Age Origins, Grand Theft Auto 4, inFamous, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2.
they're all open world games. just like Far Cry 2.
you know what they all have that Far Cry 2 DOES NOT have. civilians.
with the exception of the few hiding away in houses, virtually every single person you meet has an itchy trigger finger. Far Cry 2's Africa is a neutered version of Africa. an excuse to have an open-world shooter in the dressings of Africa, without taking any advantage of what makes Africa Africa short of it's environments and buildings.
you get Malaria.... eh... I'm a political person, who'se also a history junkie, and i like open world games a lot, but without even civilians wandering around it feels incredibly empty. plus i never once had any interest. i really mean it zippo, the big ZERO. interest in the multiplayer or it's own version of multiplayer level creator kit.
