Why do lemmings still deny the fact that gt5 will have damage?

When it has been confirmed about 4 dozen times? GT5P didn't have damage, because it is a mere glance at the game. Polyphony digital was unable to put it in due to time pressure. I mean honestly, GT5P doesn't have picture mode, but that was confirmed also in GT5. Does that mean it won't be in GT5?

This is basically like asking why does GT5P doesn't have 600 cars, or halo 3 multiplayer beta didn't have the single player campaign.

I think the only thing Lemmings are saying is that GT5P doesnt have damage, you are just misinterpreting them (Really dumb ones might say GT5 doesnt have damage modeling though). GT5 Prologue is beyond a demo at this point, it's pretty much a full game(I didnt say it was GT5, dont get your panties in a bunch), it doesnt have damage modeling. Which I find kind of silly, seeing as it's what...$40 dollars? Probably around $50 in Canada(Real price for Canada would be appreciated), thats almost as much as a Wii game.

GT5 will have damage modeling is no excuse for GT5P not having damage modeling.

The last confirmation we received from Polyphony said that GT5 would have damage on some of their cars, but not on all. So not every single car will show damage, which is pretty stupid to me.

Isn't the reason there has been no car damage in Gran Turismo games is because car companies do NOT want to see any damage to any car models in the game for legal reasons? or did that change in recent history?

It's $40 dollars...I can get full games for $40. If it isnt equivalent to a full game (Or damn near close) Its a waste of money. Dont get me wrong, GT5 is looking great, I just dont get GT5P. It seems like they are taking advantage of their consumers by making them pay $40 for half of what GT5 is going to be, then a year later make them pay $60 dollars for the full game, it seems..Sleazy.

sorry but i have to lol at that. are you telling me that if i go out driving tonight that there's no chance i will crash? because everytime i drive i take that risk. And to me, a "driving simulator" sounds like it would, you know, simulate driving with all of it's aspects and consequences. And before you criticize Forza, how about you play it first? you can adjust how much car damage you want.

By god your right! They should make me push a sequence of buttons that simulate my character in the car puting his or her seat belt on.. If not done, I want to see my character fly through the wind shield and splatter against a brick wall when I crash.

where a car gets demolished going like 40 mph! That would be so fun.

Can you please avoid mentioning the Wheel, Its going to cost me a kidney where I live cause of taxes.

But, as you said, GT5P as Polyphony said repeteadly is for CAR FANS AND GT FANS who cant wait for the full game to arrive. Im one of those. I love cars, I love GT for being the most realistic driving experience on a console and thats why Im getting it. Those who complain about crashes are mostly newcomers, or people who wins races, makes money buys a car buys the tune up stuff and goes racing. Me on the other hand, I buy the car, and the tune ups, but then I adjust them to fit the type of course. Should I need more brakes or not, where do I need them. Were do I need my car strenght to be at, which kind of drive it is, which wheels to use. Should I mix them or not (those who played the Nurburgring know what I mean by mixing wheels). Should I use a long and not so powerful nitro or should I use a short extremely powerful nitro. Should I change the balance or the height of it, etc. GT at simple sight looks for everyone, but in reality, its not. yes you can win most if not all the races without playing with your car. But how do you win them? Its obvious that if you have the Escudo Pikes Peak you can drive straight and win cause it has 999hp and a terrible speed which allows him easy wins, but you rarely stay on the track. Those of us whop play it well, rarely crash into others and normally stay on the track all the time.

Nah the biggest reason why it was for the ps2, and psone because it was on weak hardware. It would have been impossible to make a racing simulator that had even accurate physics on those consoles. The car companies do not want to see any damage is just damage control, like "rumble is last gen".

You can't call a game a simulator, unless it simulates real life. Don't convolute an argument staing hardware limitations or time constrints the simple fact is GT is not realistic at all be the way the cars react when they hit each other. Calling GT a simulator is an insult pure and simple.

ummm what about the sims (1,2)?

it doesn't simulate real life... I'm pretty sure in real life I can't built a fence around the character I hate to starve it and kill it.

I for one wont be buying GTP because it doesn't have damage and I will do the same thing if GT5 doesn't have damage too. with GT series you can mess around with numbers in technical details to improve or just to see what will happen if you mess around with it.

I have a car in gt4 only max out in 6th gear going about 60mph because I mess around with numerous of stuff in the car. maybe this is why they called it a "driving simulator" not "crashing sims"

isnt it a little bit of desperate move on sony's part? i mean most companies make free downloads for demos. its like sony says WE NEED THIS TITLE WE ARE IN TROUBLE while the devs say hey were not gonna be ready for a long time so sell this. those schmucks will buy this AND the actual game.

Then how do explain the fact that not every car will have damage? That arguement kind of works on previous GT's, but not GT5.

Also, does anyone know if the damage will be purely cosmetic, or can I stop calling it Bumpercarismo?

Well, the game isn't considered a real racing sim if it doesn't have damage or damage the effects your control. It could be called a semi-sim racer I guess. Realistically, GT5 wouldn't be able to compete with actual REAL simulated racers that are on the PC. I never considered GT racing games as a true simulated racing game anyways. With no damage and the AI cars rubber-banding on and off the track, the game was far from being a sim.

No. Please name some racing games that don't have what GT5 Prologue has plus more? PGR4, Forza 2, DiRT and even Burnout Paradise has more content then GT5: Prologue. The fact that GT5: Prologue only has 1/10 of what the Full GT5 version will have, is what makes it a DEMO.

this is being cleverly advertised in the uk, it apears to casual observers that a full game will be bindled wiith the ps3 when its actiualy an expanded beta or demo of GT5, this is just shameless on sonys part.

So forza's damage add nothing to the game, yet not only will your car be unable to finish a race when heavily damaged, but because of that, teaches you to become a better driver by learning the Apex's, drifts, breaking techniques etc?

But it doesn't add anything to the game?

And quite frankly no offense to GT which I consider a good game, but Forza pays more attention to each individual part on a car. Specifically the suspension. The amount of tweaking/monitoring on the fly is incredibly nuts.

[QUOTE="EVOLV3"]Honestly, Id rather they get the game out this year if it means no damage, if you want damage go play burnout or somthing, Crashes arent supposed to happen in Gran Turismo anyway, and the only contact you usually see is a slight bump.numba1234

yea, smashing into the walls to get around corners is GTs racing line. Remember, its the REAL driving simulator....

And getting a dent at 150 mph is even more fun.

I'd rather get a dent (Even though in Forza you get far more than that) at 150 than harmlessly bounce off of the wall or whatever car I just hit.

This is basically like asking why does GT5P doesn't have 600 cars, or halo 3 multiplayer beta didn't have the single player campaign.

blackace

The last confirmation we received from Polyphony said that GT5 would have damage on some of their cars, but not on all. So not every single car will show damage, which is pretty stupid to me.

Well, it's because of the fact some manufacturors won't allow them. Can't break the law you know just for a game..

GT5 will have damage modeling is no excuse for GT5P not having damage modeling.

blackace

GT5P is a mere demo (an expensive demo), of a game that will have ultimately less features, less cars, less tracks, and ulitmately less everything then GT5. How is this its own stand alone game? When it is just a glance at GT5P.

GT5: Prologue is for car fans and GT fans who can't wait for the full game. It's also sold at a discounted price $40. Keep in mind though at $40 it's a good deal and offers more than some full priced racing games. That's why people say it's not a demo.

I love cars so I'm getting it $40 is not the issue for me, it's the $249 I need for the G25 wheel. :)

I dunno, it's like £15 for me down the road, so...that's really not much.

Until I see GT5 with damage, excuse me for being skeptical. Developers say a whole load of stuff, but don't always deliver. GT3 was the reason I bought a PS2, and GT5 would likely be a reason for me to get a PS3 - if damage was added. However, as we all know, the paradigm of adding damage modeling to a game that is touted as a 'racing simulation is not simple. Hence the skepticism.

P.S.... I'm hardly a lemming.

Why wont manufactures allow them, that doesn't make too much sense considering most of all the cars that are in GT are in forza. Why would they allow it in forza but not GT?

Because GT5 unlike other games, is marketed as a simulation, and as such what you see crash-wise in the game will be representations of what to expect in real impact collisions with particular cars. All these other games use generic damage models, where as GT5 would be specific to the cars themselves.

lol omg u guyz its a driving simulator!!!!

lol they don't have to put damage if they dont want to.

Rikusaki

Thats what they are saying on the ps3 boards. Pretty pathetic damage (or lack of) control. Damage has been in racers for years. Now gt is online, it should DEFINATELY be included otherwise its gonna be cheap racing ftl.

Anyway, there will be NO damage in gt5. I think anyone that says otherwise must leave System Wars forever when the full game ships.

Forza 2 was not marketed as a simulation?

Exactly, slamming into walls or another opponents to decelerate is the biggest reason it needs to be added.

Sound similar to Polyphony's excuses??

Forza is nothing like the GT series in terms of simulation. Regardless of how they may advertise it. Did they advertise it as such, I don't know, you tell me.

[QUOTE="f50p90"]After watching the interview they made it seem like they wouldn't release GT5 until the damage was perfectL1qu1dSword

isnt it a little bit of desperate move on sony's part? i mean most companies make free downloads for demos. its like sony says WE NEED THIS TITLE WE ARE IN TROUBLE while the devs say hey were not gonna be ready for a long time so sell this. those schmucks will buy this AND the actual game.

Yeah we could listen to you, if Sony would have been releasing Prologues since 2. Which they had been doing so its not a quick cash deal for them, its something theyve been doing even whith the PS2.

You are right. GT = PGR in terms of simulation, totally different from Forza.

No. The latest interview stated they were working on it until it was perfected. Which could mean they will bring it to every car.

GT5 100% confirmed to have damage by a bunch of people that say it has damage then fail to provide so much as one single link that confirms it has damage.

Maybe you can post that video on Gametrailers where the guy says that it may possibly have damage at some point when it's perfect and all the time the GT5 background video shows people slamming into each other to get ahead in the race with no consequences.
