I think this occurs because the Xbox 360 has the most PC-esque style of games with a plethora of FPS's. Also Microsoft has raided the PC library to stock the Xbox 360 library and has made every attempt to erode the PC to bolster their Xbox system.

So I believe many PC gamers dislike the Xbox 360 because of Microsoft. Ironically, they need Microsoft's OS to run PC games. Kind of a quandary, I suppose. It is also ironic that Xbox 360 gamers point out the fallacies of PC gaming, and all of those fallacies are because Microsoft has a lot of shortcommings in their OS. But they gladly buy another product from Microsoft because it "works better with games". That is, if you don't get the ring of death.....

Lastly, many PC gamers don't like what the Xbox 360 by Microsoft represents: control over gaming. Microsoft is on the verge of controlling the gaming scene and making it much more expensive to play games. In the gaming future according to Microsoft, gamers will pay for everything in their games through the Xbox Live marketplace. Want those few new maps that developers used to give away for free on the PC? With the Xbox, you pay. Want that new weapon for your FPS game you just bought? The game shipped with a sling shot, if you want the automatic rifle with grenade launcher, you'll have to pay $15.00 to Microsoft to download it off of Xbox Live.

Nice.

Maybe because,if it werent for the Xbox 360,a ton of FPS's would be exclusive to the PC?>.> I never really seen a PC gamer bash soley the 360,most of the time they bash consoles as a whole.

EDIT:I just actually read the whole post, what game did Microsoft put a price on certain weapons for???Ive seen extra maps with prices, but not weapons.

Because they share a huge number of games and the 360 and PC have pretty similar strengths and weaknesses, except the PC is generally better. So whenever a lemming says something like "OMG the Xbox has the best ______" they're usually forget about the PC (like all console fanboys), which pisses PC'ers right off.

Well the 360 is the main reason the PCs get the ports of a console, and released later than the 360 (Ubisoft). Not to mention MS released some games that are supposed to be launched at the same date so the PC gamers can enjoy the game...(Halo)

I'm a hermit (also got a Wii), and I don't hate the 360 at all. Hell, I think that it's the best current-gen console, so far.

If there's anything I hate about the Xbox, however, it would be...Microsoft, and how they're trying to force us to pay for Live. Fortunately, no good games currently require it, but there's always the possibility that something great will have Live-exclusive online play...

They don't. Nice attempt at creating an arguement, but there isn't one there. Try again.

I think it would be that many games on the XBOX also make it to the PC.

Plus, if you program games using XNA, compiling for the 360 is an option away.

probably more than any other console the 360 is dumbing down previous pc exclusives for console. one of the worse results was Deus Ex 2.

They don't?

I'm mainly a PC gamer yet I own a 360, and many of the PC gamers I know also have a 360. I was inclined to buy the 360 over the other two consoles simply because it has many good games in the genres I love. That, and for Mass Effect :P (which I wouldn't be surprised to see hitting PC eventually.)

UH how is the 360 reason why pc gets ports? sorry to break it you, rainbow 6, ghost recon, UT, oblivion all started on the pc. , unless you think Lost Planet and halo series make us pc gamers jump for joy.

Also when bioshock, and alan wake was first announced, it was running the pc version. so i think its more like "thanks to the pc, consoles like the 360are getting pc ports. "

As a PC gamer I will admit I used to have a HUGE grudge against the Xbox. I mean major.. it's why I never owned an original Xbox. I'm over it now, and will get 360 some time this year (there are a ton of games coming out for it that I'm interested in).

2 reasons for the grudge, back when I had it.

Reason #1. Halo

Halo was originally being developed FOR THE PC. And I was following the development of it very closely. Then Microsoft, as they were getting ready to roll out their first game console, realized they needed some really good games to lure people away from the consoles that already had established brands. They bought the studio developing Halo, and switched the title to Xbox exclusive.

They later (MUCH later) did announce they'd port the title to the PC in like a year or so. But, in my opinion, the development direcition of the game changed alot when they shifted the focus from PC to Xbox. It would have been MUCH better had MS not gotten involved. Also, I didn't like waiting an extra year for the game. In the end, I never bought it at all. I was upset...

Reason #2. The Xbox is a PC..except you can't upgrade it regularly

From a purely hardware standpoint, the original Xbox really was nothing more than a PC in a pretty shell that didn't have as many options and uses as a real pc, and wasn't upgradeable. I just never saw any point to the console.

Like I said, I don't have a grudge anymore, and while I still think Reason #2 ..mostly.. still is true, the point has been reached where the power of the consoles (both PS3 and 360) can deliver games with enough pizzaz that they satisfy me so I'm willing to play these AAA titles on a console rather than wanting them on my PC. Prior to this generation of consoles, all I bought (mostly) for console games was RPG's, because the PC could do everything else FAR better.

...hey, don't blame me for typing a long answer, YOU asked.

Short answer, there were reasons, but they aren't as valid anymore, and I'll own a 360 soon. Jury is still out whether I'll be buying Bio shock on PC or 360 on release though.

I have nothing against Xbox 360. Only thing i don't like about X360 is the D-pad and FPS games (as i said elsewhere, i don't like FPS to be on consoles in general).

Only games worth buying for X360 is IMO DOA4, GeOW, Forza 2 (although the graphics blows), Fable 2 (which will come to PC eventually), PGR4 and Resident Evil 5 (they better port it to PC as i am huge fun of that series. Does anyone know if RE4 PC flopped in sales?).

The Xbox is just a cut down PC, this makes porting easier between both.

Sometimes however the games are dumbed down and simplified for the console market. A lot of PC gamers don't like that once complex games are turned into arcade format to appeal to the casual console market.

Pretty much agree with this guy but like to add if you actually believe it then a factor would probably be the fact we can play the majority of interesting x360 games on PC anyway.

Dont hate the console itself, and like a few exclusives on it , the loading times suck however ^^.

Its more to do with Microsoft, yes ok they are doing great with this console , but thier buisness mind ..... however much anyway says "Thats buisness n00b quit whining" .... we have a right to complain, theyre moves are never in favour of Consumer choice.

Microsoft are ass-shats, thats the point in all this, trying to consolize PC Gaming, because 10 million people bought theyre console therefore they think PC Gamers want that experiance .... no .... 10-15 million is nothing to get high and mighty about, nearing 2 years ... its quite bad.

That's exactly it.

I miss the days where games needed 100+ page manuals so you could figure out how to play them. *SOB*

Well, not really... I never did read those Microprose encyclopedia's...but the games were pretty awesome once you figured out how to play them. I remember a jet fighter sim.. think it was the F15.. not sure though, it took me 4 days to figure out how to land without crashing. (I did great in the air right from the start.. but landing sucked). These days they just have auto-land on what few air combat simulations come out.

Never hated Xbox, but I'm starting to dislike Microsoft's "Games for Windows" strategy. Practically every GfW game gets simultaneously ported to Xbox 360, yet Microsoft keeps major number of Xbox 360 exclusives to Xbox 360.

I think a few of them do because they see the 360 as the annoying, inferior little brother who keeps trying to be like big brother.

I'm mainly a PC gamer, but I enjoy the 360 very much. I also have an original Xbox that I bought shortly after it was released. So I don't dislike them at all. If anything, I dislike the Wii and PS3 for a lack of decent games. Eventually I'll probably have all systems though.

Once again, the PC has the most high quality titles. OMG LAWL 360 1 AAA this yaer, PC 3. That sensationalist statement was just to prove you wrong. I don't dislike the 360, I play it alot.
