So could someone explain to me why they are cheaper than console games when they are better sometimes. You'd think they'd cost even more. Though their console counterparts are better most of the time.

1. They dont have to pay royalty fees to Sony or MS so they can charge less.

2. You fail for saying that the console version of a game is usually better

This is correct. To develop on a console there are fees involved. On the PC there are no fees resulting in the games lower cost.

lol joke post i hope.

You pay for quality. On ps3 every game is on Blu-ray and is up to a certain standard. so you have to pay for that luxury.

on pc and 360 people ship broken games and then make excuses like "oh, we will patch it" and then theirs piracy. so its cheap.

This, reganding the cost, everything else concerning the quality of the game is pure fanboyism.

Haha so by you're logic, 360 games should be priced lower than PS3 games? Yet they are equal in price.

I'm pretty sure 360 has beaten out ps3 a few times and vice versa... and the majority of multiplat games for pc are better (a select few however, do suck)

Is this why PS3 multiplat games always have inferior graphics and performance issues compared to 360, not to mention PC? So far, being on BD has shown pretty much no advantage: sells are still better on 360, graphics are still better on PC. So, what "luxury" are we talking about?

Joke post indeed? PS3 games don't need patching WOW I'll need to delete all those SOCOM patches then. Also the disk format makes a game quality?

All the fanboyism comments that have and will be made aside; you are really paying for the developers licensing fees. This is Microsoft's, Sony's, Nintendo's platform and if you want access to their audience they want a cut of your profits.

That's why console companies are willing to sell their systems at a loss, getting the install base is paramount to convincing developers it is worth making a game for that platform. They make their money back from game sales, the developers of course need to make their money back so the licensing cost gets passed on to the consumer

PC doesn't have licensing fees because there is no owner, PC is an open platform and everyone is invited to develop for it if they wish.

Microsoft and Sony charge the developers a fee for realising a game on their platform.

PC gaming is owned by no one so no licencing fee.

wasn't Socom full of bugs, glitches and server problems when it was initially released that they had to eventually "patch" it

That is not a rule of thumb that the PC version is always better. I don't know if what the others in this topic said is right or wrong (probably right) but maybe its also cheaper because NOT all computers are installed with good graphics card.

The performance on every PC will be different unlike consoles which give a consistent & stable gaming experience. So, that might be a reason too. Its just a thought and not a fact, so avoid flaming please.

Can do? It already can, but those games are console exclusive. Don't tell me you actually think if any of them were brought to PC it couldn't handle them?

Go back to games released in 2004/2005. The only reason the PC can't do those specific games is because they aren't being made for it.

Define what you mean by "qualities", because that is a very subjective term.

Technology? Graphics? Storyline? Polish?

I think the majority fo pc games can match and surpass each of the games you mentioned... such as Crysis, Dawn of War II, Empire: Total War, Sins

Even games such as Mass Effect and Gears of War are superior on pc in every respect.

I think when he said qualities, he used a subjective term on purpose, making it more difficult to attain what exactly displays similar "qualities"

Technology it can beat, as much older pc's can match console specs... Graphics generally goes hand in hand with developers and technology, it depends on the power behind the engine, and how good the engine really is. Higher rez textures, HDR, being able to stream more due to ram and also CPU speed

Even games such as Mass Effect and Gears of War are superior on pc in every respect.

I think when he said qualities, he used a subjective term on purpose, making it more difficult to attain what exactly displays similar "qualities"

I just think he doesn't know what he's talking about. But that's just me. :)

[QUOTE="Brainkiller05"]They're always better on PC. LunchBox-

lol joke post i hope.

You pay for quality. On ps3 every game is on Blu-ray and is up to a certain standard. so you have to pay for that luxury.

on pc and 360 people ship broken games and then make excuses like "oh, we will patch it" and then theirs piracy. so its cheap.

Err doesn't work like that cowman.

Technology Graphics and Polish. I know the PC can match gameplay with consoles.

Hungry_Jello

Ok I'm going to do something that is next to suicide in SW and admit a flaw with my platform, polish. PC titles rarely have the polish of console titles because it is impossible to account for every possible hardware and software configuration. People are afraid to admit this because everyone in SW hold up their platforms as being perfect and defend it against all criticisms, however like the RROD on the 360 there are just some things that are part of a platform that won't go away no matter what you think.

That said the typical console fanboy will read that and blow it out of proportion, this is SW were everyone is desperately looking for any sort of ownage after all. The reason this doesn't bother me is because it's a compromise, I accept the lower level of polish (we do have our gem developers though) for increased freedoms. Not everyone will share that preference but I am just speaking for myself after all.

Now with that long windedness aside, if you think PC games are not as technologically and graphically advanced as console games then you're smoking something.
