I bought a WII when it was brand new, and something different. I only play wii sports/fit though but I've done my research!
People are still buying them, can someone explain why because there's no good games at all comming out!

The same reason you bought any other system: For the games.
Just because they don't interest you, doesn't mean no one else likes the games. ;)
well unlike the "multimedia devices" the wii only plays games so people would buy it just for that.
THAT BEING GAMES

People buy the Wii because it's the console that best fits their everyday needs for interactive entertainment and leisure. Nothing more, nothing less.
It's important to remember that the people who buy the Wii see video games as leisure. Not as challenges, not as competitions, not as hobbies, and certainly not as art.

There are plenty of games coming out for it, and that's besides the point because there are already enough good games on it to justify a purchase.
I just recently sold mine about one month after i bought it. The only game i miss is Wii Sports. If they would have announced a Wii Sports 2 at their Press conference i would have kept it. And not the stupid Wii sports resort it looks stupid.torontomapleafs
Wii Sports Resort is Wii Sports 2. They're just less well known sports, such as racing or fencing. XD
Simple. The Wii has a huge pile of exclusives, many of which are some of the best games of the generation. Need a more concise answer than that?Tylendal
No it doesn't, the reason it's selling so well is because of it's casual appeal, I thought we already have gone over that.
I work at Superstore, and 99% of the people who buy a Wii here are around 30-50 years old.
They buy it for either themselves (for games like Wii Sports/Wii Fit), or for their young children so they can play Mariokart/Wall-E.
Most of the better games like SMG just sit on the shelf for months, while the cheap stuff gets bought.

You asked why people buy them, there's your answers. There are essentially two console markets, the casual and the hardcore. Nintendo has managed to make a console that sells to both these markets, along with an untapped third market that is made of people who never played videogames before.

Well, I didn't ask anything, and your answer was just wrong, the Wii doesn't have a "huge pile of exclusives, many of which are the best games this gen", that statement is just so wrong it isn't even funny. but, if you said "it sells so much because it appeals to a large number of people who were never into gaming", then yes, I'd totally agree with that.

I'm going to start by saying that SMG is arguably the best game of the generation (any game that is in first place (for the gen) on GR is "arguably" best. And the "arguably" part is just being condencending because if I said, "officially you'd just start whining that only Gamespot matters."
Secondly, I'm going to say. Brawl, Metroid, Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Okami, No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox, Blast Works, Twilight Princess, Endless Ocean, Wario Ware, and Mario Kart.
That covers a wide range of genres, some of the genres were even invented by the series.

Well, many of these games didn't sell so well, so it's obvious that most of the Wii's userbase isn't interested in these games, so it's not the reason it's selling so much, yeah.......SMG is "arguably" the best game this generation if we go by GR rules, but that's just one game, of all these games you listed, I'm only interested in SMG and Okami, these games might be decent, but with the exeption of Brawl and Metroid and a few other first party titles, they're mostly low budget games that will not make you go "woah, I'm buying a Wii for this game", if we go by overall library, both PS3 and 360 have more high rated games than the Wii, and looking into Wii's future, it's not getting much support from nintendo nor third parties, that's pretty sad for a console selling that much don't you think?
Brawl, Metroid, Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Okami, No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox, Blast Works, Twilight Princess, Endless Ocean, Wario Ware, and Mario Kart.

The Wii has games which appeal to different people. People on these forums like games such as SMG, SSBB and No More Heroes. The majority of Wii sales come from outside the 'core' gamer, the 'new non-gamers' which like games such as Wii Fit, Wii Play and Wii Sports. Anything wrong with this .... I say no, some would disagree, but that's why many people buy the Wii. The Wii has games which are aimed for more then the core gamer, and these games are attracted by other sectors of the market and thus they are brought.
Why did I buy the Wii, I wanted something different and Nintendo's core games. I've been thougherly satisfied as I don't play games too often due to other commitments, but I still have fun with Wii Sports, and enjoy more traditional games like SMG.

Because those types of gamers don't like GOW or GeoW.
Also, remember, it's designed for the new NONGAMER/Casual Gamer market, and they love it.

have you ever thought that people are buying the Wii for games that have already been released, not necessarily looking for games that havent come out yet?

for some reason, some people consider it an FPA, first person adventure
Maybe because.. people enjoy the console.
You know, it has games that might not appeal to you, but appeal to others.
People buy Wii because the same reason i did: it is which one has the most exclusive games that you think you would enjoy thoroughly.Topic.

i bought it for its exclusives and slightly out there games. i quite enjoyed endless ocean for example...very nice game. i just wish it was biggger and hope theres a sequal and improves on its exploration and discovery aspect.
im currently play MP3 again and its a really nice reminder of just what the wiimote can add to a game. its an absolute pleasure to play.
I feel kind've mislead by Nintendo... I bought mine because Nintendo promised new unique games, they said they were committed to online and they said twice the power of Gamecube so I didn't mind paying twice the price to get one. There are very few unique games, most games are just the same games with motion controls, online is horrible, and it definetly doesn't have "twice" the power of gamecube.
Because it have games that i like? Because it's pretty cheap? Because the family like it? I don't see why it's that so hard to understand.
You're looking at it from your own perspective, which is, "I've had a Wii for a while, played all the games I wanted. Now I don't see anything exciting to play in the future."
A person buying a Wii now, still has all those great games to play, including the ones that I assume you enjoyed earlier. Since the Wii still sells out fairly quickly,(Although it's getting easier to find as long as you watch the ads.) we can assume that a lot of people are buying a Wii now because it's their first opportunity to, not for some resent or near future game like MGS4 or Halo 3.

Lol what kind of self claimed gamer fall for hype? there's such a thing as research you know.

and yet you dont feel mislead by Sony? interesting...
did they deliver dual 1080p, 120 fps, 4d, toy story like graphics for the ps3 like they said they would?
it is cheap and parents think the Wii is the kiddy console of the bunch for their little kids. So yea, lots of kids making their parents buy them Wii's because swinging a remote around is coolkrp008
Could be true.... but it is also the most wanted system for people from the age 18-36
[QUOTE="HarlockJC"]exclusive are the main reason
It is tied with the PC for the most A+ exclusive for the year
qewrewq
Lol, exclusive A+'s? that's it?
If you don't count downloads it has the most AA+ games for a console this year so far
if you do count downloads it only has 1 less than the 360 and 3 more than the PS3
