Why do people claim the RROD is a thing of the past?

Just look on the 360 forum and you can quite clearly see that the most popular thread (of which there have been many as they fill up so fast) is the "The Broken 360 Discussion and Information Thread Ver. 2".

Every day this thread grows and grows as hundreds of people report their RROD. Anyone that supports this type of machine is either a) crazy or b) unable to afford a ps3

Had mine for 2 years and nothing wrong with it. A better question is why would you care? why bring it up? it has been discussed too many times.

or C) just faking it to tick off fanboys.

RRoD is still a prevalent problem, which will probably take a while to fix, if it even gets fixed at all.

Yeah, theres a lot of posts, but if you go back 5 pages from its last page it goes back a whole month, and not everyone posting there is currently having problems. A lot of them are people who like to talk about how much 360 sucks. Its not really the hottest topic right now. And BTW, I had a Wii and a PS3 and sold both due to 'dust collecting'. I could of easily sold my 360 but I enjoy the games on it 5Xs more than the PS3.

You don't have to be poor or crazy to own a 360. I own all consoles. I like games.

That said, the problem still very much exists. I got RROD last weekend :(

the last posts on that thread were months ago, most of the posts have no substance and are just people complaining, and how do we know even half of the posts are by users that factually had a rrod?

I own 2 360's an pro launch that hasn't failed me, and an elite 12 months old that has never failed me, i have both in wide open shevling systems so air flow is at a maximum....so i dont know what to tell you.

I bought a 360 on launch and had the red ring of death a little over a year ago.It broke,i sent it in,they sent it back and i havent had a problem since.I also have a newer 360 that i bought a few months ago and i havent had a problem with either. It really wasnt that big of a deal to me when it broke because they had it sent back to me pretty quickly.I support microsoft because they simply have the best games out right now and there online service is unmatched.I also own a ps3 and i have to say that i rarley play it because sony doesnt give me much of a reason to.Theres a few good games on the ps3 but ive played through them i dont have much of a reason to go back, mainly because psn suuuuuuucks.

Because they dont realize that the real problem with it will show now.

The warranties for many of the boxes are running out, soon people will be majorly owned when their beloved xbox dies. No more free games when repairing the box, only the expensive way out, buying another one..

Because it is, Falcon has pretty much gotten rid of the problem, heck its so much more efficient it uses HALF the power. Once the Jasper comes around, its will be absolutely impossible for it to exist.

some people just don't get it. i have only gotten it once.

surely your chances of getting it with a new 360 are lower, but i agree the problem still exists and is substantial.

yeah it still happens but i feel ms has fixed the problem the new chipsets def work but the problem is phasing them in there are still so many people out there that have older 360 that are vulnerable to breaking so we could still be seeing the problem poping up for a long time but they have def took steps to fix it that work.

I bought a 360 on launch and am now on my 7th one due to rrod. Well this last time that my 360 died i called Microsoft to find out that my warranty was expired. After they looked up my account the phone rep apologized to me and said that they would still fix my system, and they slapped on another 3-year warranty on it for free. I still think that the system (not the games) is a major POS...but Microsoft took care of the problem and that's all that matters.

Sometimes I turn on the 360 and the Red Rings of Death are there. When I turn it back on to play again it'll be back to normal. Maybe I should keep my 360 away from the hands of certain others.

they didn't take care of it. it still happens and will happn to every 360 owner out there. just because they fix it for free (at least till their warrenty is up) doesn't make it acceptable...

Lets use the average lem argument. Stop hiding behind PS2 and come into the CURRENT 7TH GENERATION. As I mentioned in another topic my 360 got RROD and i'm waiting for it to come back. RROD is still a problem and I find it said that some 360 fanboys act like it doesn't exist anymore when it clearly does.

your not actually reading the thread are you? most of the problems on there now are not RROD related it's mainly e47 errors and disc read errors, you should actually read the thread before posting stuff like this.

I don't get why people like you always try to make people worry about RROD. People that bought a 360 most likely knew the consequences, but bought it anyways because of the 3 year warranty.

Plus that's where the games are.

I've known people that have sent their 360 in because they mistook 4 red lights to be the RRoD.
The 360 uses the red warning lights to signal many different problems, from trivial to serious.

i know what you mean, i know RROD can happen, but i don't let things like that put me off, and with the arcade going for 130 quid, its actually cheaper to replace it twice than it is to buy a ps3, not that i have too cos i still have 15 months on my 3 yr warranty and i don't mind finding something else to do for 2 weeks while i'm waiting and the 360 is definitely where the games are and i complete my games in about 3-5 days so a system with less games is less than an option for me, it's funny that most of the people moaning about the RROD don't even own a 360, it may not be the most reliable system on the planet but it's a sweet gaming console.

I wish my 360 RRoD... The Stupid things disc drive broke on my and they want to charge my $100 dollars because its been over a year that I've had my Xbox 360... The 3 year thing only takes into effect if you have RRoD... Is there a way to give your 360 RRoD... I'm going to leave it on 24/7 and see if it breaks it... I'll move my PS3 first incase the 360 bursts into flames...
