I personally dont see the point in some people disliking this feature.

They dont do anything to hurt a game at all.

You dont need to try and get all of them.I dont set out and try to get all the achievements in a game. I beat a game then put it down.

I like them because they are proof that I finished a game.

So if you are not a fan of this feature, why? I would like to know.

Same reason on why they would hate "x" system... stupidity.

Having said that, I think I dislike the online trophies, mostly because I don't play online.

I don't hate them,I just don't care about them...

For me,they don't contribute anything to the game, and sometimes, the pop-ups can be slightly annoying.

Would've prefered if there was an option to shut them down altogether, but not a big issue. As pointed in the OP,they don't hurt your game experiences...

What i don't like is that people think it's a must have feature on every console. Sure you get rewarded for doing something within the game which is a good bonus to have. Who doesn't like earning something for doing something?. It's when people act like it determines how good you are and that it shows if your better or inferior than other people.

Cheleman

pretty much how I feel.

It's kinda neat to get an achievement unlocked while in the middle of playing but I don't go out of my way to get every achievement in every game; same will probably apply to accomplishments on the Wii-U unless Nintendo does something very different with their accomplishment system.

The people that judge others on how many achievements and trophies are stupid and moronic, but there's nothing wrong with trophies/achievements/accomplishments themselves.

In some sort of way, trophies/achievements could be used to determine if someone is full of Bs or not...

I suppose I should rephrase and say people that take achievements too seriously are ridiculous.

People hate the fact that their gaming footprint can be so easily tracked, and are able to be called out on any BS they spew out.

Or use them in some sort of Resistance kinda way, where you unlock stuff from getting trophies... you know, old school style unlocking.

Ubisoft has been doing this with UPlay supported titles; accomplish certain in game feats (essentially achievements and the like) and receive points that can be redeemed to get DLC and other stuff like avatars.

I like them, but I usually dont bust my ass to get trophies tho. I have lots of games that I only got 20% or less trophies for. only a had full of game have over 50% And I only have one platinum. Some games hae 'meh' trophies, some are insane, some game have fun trophies, some games have trophies that have you do stuff/go place you didnt even know you could do/go therefore enhancing your experience. I like that they are there, but I dont exactly find them necessary. If a game like the TLoU came out with out trophies, I would be fine with it. Sure, they dont mean nothing, but in some case they can help you enjoy the game for longer.

Several reasons:

a) some people are too lazy to try to get them

b) sometimes they manipulate they way you'd otherwise normally play

c) some people are obsessed with them in an unhealthy manner

d) some people wrongly judge other gamers by their gamerscore/trophy count

You rarely see people who likes achievements/trophies act elitist towards others who don't, but there's plenty of it going the other way. It's mind boggling how defensive people get over something they claim is trivial.

I can understand pity. I mean I pity any loser who played Hanah Montana for the trophies...but hate? Really? So if I'm having a lot of fun with a game and want a reason to keep playing after the main story, and decide I want to go for the achievements/trophies, I'm a horrible person?

They don't do anything. TF2 is one of the few that actually rewards you with weapons and such for doing them, but the majority of them are absolutely worthless

i guess there aren't any completionists here or don't understand how completing everything is a personaly goal that people do to enhance their gaming experience o satisfy a personality quirk....

personally i like em....i gained a lot of replay value to my games....and it pushes me when there are slow parts to games to finish it....so i'm not swindled out of my money by not seeing a game through...

Achievements for doing normal things is fine, like beating a level. What is dumb is when there is an achievement, that you have to beat a level, while never getting hit, and never using a shot, while helping your friend do something, and getting 100 kills with melee. Another one I hate is. "YEAH, I beat the game on hard!" Achievement Unlocked: Beat the Game on Hard....... Achievement still Locked: Beat the Game on Easy. Beat the Game on Normal. WHY MUST I DO IT 3 TIMES??!
