Whats worse are the people who blame CoD for other games copying them. That is THEIR fault and THEIR problem.

Which becomes our problem. I hope you're content with pure action games over and over. We've lost (and are losing) great franchises to CoD's success. Resident Evil is now a pure action shooter. Splinter Cell has taken a more action oriented approach, and Mass Effect basically turned into a shooter with light RPG elements. The upcoming Hitman looks to be going the same route as all the others. Multi-player is now mandatory in mostly every game. The market is flooded with FPSes.
You're going to tell me that no fault for this can be laid at CoD's feet? Sure in the end the companies that copy are to blame, but CoD holds some responsibility here. I don't hate the series, but I do resent it. Success is a good thing for the most part, but when it gets to the point that everyone jumps on the bandwagon at the expense of innovation, originality and creativity, it becomes a problem. And let's be honest here, CoD's gameplay isn't the deepest out there. Point and shoot. Gaming's potential is being overlooked for the $$$, and whether you want to admit it or not, CoD is a driving force behind that.
So because the industry in general lacks the creativity for innovation, so badly I might add, that they need to resort to "copying" the biggest franchise this gen that DID innovate its genre, and fight its way to the dominant position in their genre, fair and square, it is their fault?
If I beat you at a game of basketball, is it MY fault for being "too good" when I practice every day, or your fault for NOT being good enough, when you dont even play? Dont take this as hostility, but IMO the fact that all of these super duper developers (aka. everyone and their grandmother this gen) even NEEDS to resort to copying this "lowly" franchise that according to everybody is destroying the industry, that speaks alot more on themselves, NOT on Call of Duty developers. ;)
