Why Do People Hype Games?

I mean what is the point of hyping a game AAA as you get no benifit during development. If your going to hype a game hype it A or AA so you don't look like a fool when the game comes out and its underwhelming. You do realize your giving the other "parties" ammo to use against you by hyping games AAA and AAAA.

If you underhype games on purpose when it gets a score higher than expected you can say "WOW THIS GAME IS AMAZING BETTER THAN EXPECTED" and if it doesn't... at least you hyped the game to the score it got, and you are not owned.

People do it for fun. Its always fun.

It doesn't effect if you buy the game or not? Does it??
