Because its a good SRPG that delivers in all the areas that matter, and that is so rare these days. The only other real competition in that genre are the Nippon Ichi games, which are terrible grinding simulators and not fun in the least if you don't like said grinding.

LOL, no. I loved Shadow Wars, too, but FE is way, way better.
FE is pretty good but it´s no Shining Force.
Ewww, gross. I never played a FE game, but if it can't even stack up to Shining Force, I'll have to pass indefinitely.
I agree. It's a good game but I was expecting a lot more. I never played a FE game before and honestly it's just not that fun of a strategy game. I don't like the level system and the enemy A.I.
Playing through it I've never felt like the enemy was actually trying to win. Typically they just want to kill at least one unit even if they have to sacrifice their entire army to do so, which is annoying.
Nobody under or overrates anything, that's why it's their own opinion, and that's why everyone has them. Claiming someone's own thoughts on something they're experiencing for themselves are somehow stupid or wrong is a childish act that people would be better off phasing out of their lives.
Alot of them aren't long time fans of the series and like the gimping Intelligent Systems did to the game. It's also one of the only original SRPG non port / remakes games on the system. I think it's a good game but as a long time fan, it's mediocre.
I love how overrated has become synonymous with "thing that people like but I don't so I'll throw the word around to make myself feel validated"

What I love is the ole "only newbs say it's not over-rated because they aren't FE vets like myself" bullshit.

Ain't bullshit when it's true

I didn't think FE:A was all it was hyped to be, still decent but damn that game gets repetitive quick, there's only like two dozen maps to grind on again and again and again before you get to the end. Has great battle animations, but no lesbian relationships, no lesbian relationships is a damn shame, typical though of Japanese games.

The whole point of the relationships in the game was to produce children with the same traits as the parents, though.
It's a great game with a lot of replayability and its structure is absolutely perfect for the handheld format. Its production values are great, too.

Have you played older Fire Emblems?

All of them since 7. Some of the old ones were bare-bones, some lacked places to grind, and most have been very sub-par graphically. I'm not saying Awakenings is the best by any means, but it does have great new features the old ones lacked.
How many have you played?

I played 7 and Sacred Stones after Awakening and was quite surprised on how they felt like sequels to Awakening.
When it comes to great new features that the old ones lacked, I really see none, although I haven't played the punishing GCN game. The best actually new feature of Awakening is the relationships, which while being an excellent combination of gameplay and story, don't take away the amount of strategic features they took out of a strategic game.
