I really don't see it getting AAA.
The first two didn't and while this makes advances I don't think the gameplay has evolved enough over previous entries for GS to give it an AAA.
Melee was AMAZING but GS scored it bad because of a weak story mode (dur) and no online (but that wasn't that big of a deal.
Now Brawl is getting 3x the features and polishing and its getting an EPIC story mode + online.
If this isn't ment to be regarded highly I don't know what should be.

I don't think most ppl think gs will give it AAA. but it will still be a loved game by ppl that play it.
It won't receive a 10/10 but the reason it has such a large fanbase is because IT IS FUN.
It's what owners of other consoles should try out once and awhile.wiretoss
Yes and i agree, but thats not what im saying... Im just saying it dosen't have what it takes to be a goty title.

Thing about SSB is: Its super easy to learn, increadibly hard to master. SHFFLing and Wavedashing are much harder than 30 button combos in other fighters.
[QUOTE="Tylendal"]How can you call SSB simple? Just because each character doesn't have a billion-zillion moves to memorize doesn't mean that the game is simple.dudy80
You anwsered your own question... Moves make a fighting game last time i checked.
A game has a number of characters, each with a move-list of exactly a hundred moves. Each move is more complex to enter than the last. The player that enters the most complex move automatically wins. By your definition that would be a good game.
I play Soul Caliber 2. My best character is Ivy. Ivy has some incredibly powerful and flashy moves, including two similair throws that are the two strongest moves in the game. However, those throws do almost nothing unless linked with other moves to get my opponnent into the right sweet-spot, and if I do nothing but flashy moves, I will get torn to pieces by faster weaker moves. A battle in Soul Caliber is ended with the big flashy moves, but it is ultimately the simplest moves that win the match when it has barely started. The rest is just a formality. Any player can do huge amounts of damage when the opponent is in the right position, but the faster paced, weaker moves that set the battle are what require true skill.
Melee is one of the fastest paced fighting games around, and at high levels, the fastest moves and techniques always win, and the slower stronger moves are only used once the opponent is helpless.
The english language only has 26 letters in its alphabet... does that make it simple?
Sonic + Mario + Solid Snake + Online Vs. + Online Co-op = Dream come true.
:D
Gamespot's first preview of Super Smash Bros. Brawl was very... apathetic?
They just seemed like they were never interested in the game.tbone29
Man you really know how to turn me on......
The game looks amazing SSBM has to be my most played game ever
It's simple: Super Button Mash Bros. Brawl has a bunch of characters from multiple universes that fight against each other in matches. Kids, geeks, and Nintendo fans are going to love this. It's like Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Both simplistic, dumbed down fighters made to appeal to the masses, but it's every gamers' dream come true. I'll admit I thought it was cool too when I first played with Link against Mario in Super Button Mash Bros. for the N64..when I was in 8th grade... majadamus
The sort of people that think that Melee is a simple game, are the sort of people who spam B moves, and cry "cheat" when people who actually know what they're doing wavedash, SHFFL, dodge, and smash all around them, hitting you 2 or 3 times before you can even blink.

To call both Smash and MvC2 "simplistic, dumbed down fighters" shows your knowledge of the genre. Broken games, sure but simplistic? Argh...

I seriously doubt AAA status, even with online, more characters, better first player, more features, stages, music, and just about everything that should make it AAA. This is GS after all. Still, Smash Bros is not just a fan-favorite, but a gamer-favorite. Just about every gamer on the planet, regardless of console preference enjoys this game in some shape or form. Those that don't usually lack a soul. :P
But yeah, no matter what score it gets, it's probably going to deliver very well in the fun factor area, which is what matters.
Its a decent series and i have had a good bit of fun with it over the years on the 64 and gc but really i dont see it getting over a 8.5. I see a lot of people saying its GOTY material (i know it comes out next year) but from what i have seen of it not much has changed and really its about the most simple fighting game ever. I wont argue its a fun series but i just dont think it has the scale and depth to be a AAA title. Hell, there still using the same type level desingns yet, anyone else agree? dudy80
I was going to make a topic like this the other day but decided against it since all your gonna get is sheep flaming you. I like SSB but its not as great as everyone says, the game is too simplistic, not many moves, I really dont like the camera, it zooms out to far when its 2 v 2 and the game itself gets boring pretty quick.

Gez, you need to play more fighters.....Melee has some of the most advanced techniques used in any fighting game that can take a very long time to even get down on a basic level.
If you don't believe me watch this

http://www.smashwiki.com/wiki/GameplayIt is single handedly the most addicting and fun game that ANYONE can play
This second one brings so much more to the floor.....I see it as an easy AAA but not much higher than 9.5
....it'll be a great game...trust me

i can tell you are not good at the game. You probably never even played the game let alone played it at a high level. Its a simple game dumbed down game? Then why is it one of the most popular tournament fighters? The game is far from simple and you just can't button mash to victory against people who actually know how to play. Please don't speak on something you know nothing about.
Ya i could say that for alot of games on other systems.
The fact is that SSBB looks like such a well rounded game.
Actually, if you check the wii forum, you will see that it is hyped AA, since we know GS won't give it AAA.
Melee is NOT the BEST game on the GC, but maybe, just maybe, it is the most fun.
Wosz
Anyone who is smart knows that GS wont give it an AAA but of course the avweerage rating speaks louder than BIASED GS.
