They aren't better or worse, but I think it more so more of value to that system to determine which system you want.

They aren't better (even though they generally go the extra mile a multiplat won't) but they are what separates one consoles from the next, and believe it or not, they do determine what console a person would get. Multiplats do not for the most part.

I got my 360 because I just knew multiplatform games are usually better. Whether its graphics or performance issues, 360 is just better even with some games the graphics are just a tad better or it could be full blown issues with graphics, performance, screen tearing, framerates like Orange Box, or Bayonetta.

Because they want to have something they can use against fanboys of the system that they don't own or despise. That's all it is.

This generation, I've enjoyed many more multiplats than exclusives.

Beat me to it. On topic, I agree just because Bioshock is my favourite game this gen, and then Portal, and both of them are multiplat.

Both games you mentioned were incredibly bad (and effortless) ports by the devs....

The majority of multiplats have very minimal differences if any at all, I can't see many people choosing a console based on them.

1. Exclusives are the best justification for buying console A over console B, as multiplats are on A & B.

2. The quality ratio for exclusives is higher. (% of good games to bad)

3. An exclusive is specially made for 1 console, so better exploits that console than if it was multiplats& made for 2 different consoles.

I only say they are because exclusives this gen have been the best games I've played. I haven't played every game on that list, but a lot of them that I did play weren't very good, you should make a better list to compare mulitplats to exclusives.

My argument is that they arent necessarily better in quality, but that theyre more relevant in todays console generation since they make up like a very large majority of our gaming.

I'm not going to argue which is better but most of my favorite games this gen are exclusives. Uncharted 2, MGS4, Persona 4, Heavy Rain etc. there are a few multiplats i love as well though like ME2, DA: O.

There are certainly some amazing multiplatform games (I've had more fun playing Bayonetta than Stacraft 2) but you can't claim ownage with multiplatform games unless one is severely hindered.

well, one could do online better or could have a better controller. Or one coudl offer you something beyond games like HD Movie playback. Exclsuvies are really only half of what sells a console I think. Its one aprt Exclsuvies, and the other part is features of said console and price.

Gears of War was what pushed me over the edge to get a 360. but I also was really close to getting one because of Oblivion and all the new HD shineyness.

exclusives are what makes a system, and what we remember the most. i mean, in the 16-bit era, it was Mario and Sonic that defined their consoles. just like the PS1-N64 era, where Snake, Crash Bandicoot, Zelda Ocarina of Time, etc. are what we most remember 'til this day. 10 years from now no one is going to say, "oh, what i remember most is Red Dead Redemption!". that is not going to happen. i'm betting it will be more like, "oh Gran Turismo 5, MGS4, Maro Galaxy 2 were all swesome games!"

Devil May Cry 4

Goes on and on and on.........................................................................................

crusadernm

all of these games are great but exclusives help one decide what system is better suited for them. you and play all those multiplats and:

Halo, Gears, Fable, Crackdown, ect.

Or ou can play all those multiplats and:

Gow, Uncharted, MGS, Demon's Souls, Infamous, ect.

that's the importance of exclusives. exclusives are the difference maker. if there were no exclusives people would just buy the cheepest least expensive system, seeing how they all offer the same games.

Exclusives make for a BETTER VALUE.

It could be just because someone perfers the experience they've gotten with exclusive games they played over multiplatform games. Not everyone who perfers exclusives is a fanboy like some people seem to say. Exclusives also seperate systems and gives different experience to those who own multiple consoles and not just missing out with one.

I think the point the TC was trying to make is that if a game is not exclusive, it's just simply dismissed. If I were to say my5 favorite games this generation are Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2, Oblivion, Super Mario Galaxy, and Halo 3, all of you would say "ME2 and Oblivion aren't exclusive". It seems to be implied here on system wars that if agame isn't exclusive, that it isn't relevant. I do understand the value of exclusives, but Oblivion IMO is one of the best games I've ever played, and it's not exclusive, but that doesn't make it any less of a game.
