Halo is pure fun, the first one is all about beating the one player and then playing with friends, and the second one is about the online as well as playing with friends. I'm not saying it's new or special, but it is sooo fun and the story is really decent!
Yeah, I love Halo, but just like GTA it's bashed because a) it's popular with casuals, and b) they both get great scores...oh and c) they sell extremely well.
Well, there was a thread recently made about the Halo 3 barrels. One of the Bungie updates talked solely about grass, and water... I call that over-attention.
Because it is a fad to hate on Halo. I'll make this analogy, when Jordan was playing and winning with the Bulls, people hated him because he humiliated the team they loved. Halo, it humiliated alot of the games people love, and became so popular that is spawned a video gaming league. If your sucessful, people will hate.

Bungie keeps releasing these tidbits of information that nobody really cares about (as people said before, grass and water, mute buttons, BARRELS) and it's like... "enough. Give us something good or don't give us anything at all." Bungie's trying to get the game as hyped as it can, which in turn leaves the game "over-hyped."

while halo might be a great Console FPS, its not even an avarage fps when compared to what was is avaliable for PC gamers, that wny i dont like halo, there are MUCH better FPS games for the pc out there, Halo is just an ok console fps. note that what i said its my opinion and iam not bashing the halo franchise
Of course it's over-hyped. Is that really a bad thing? The more press for a great game, the better. Halo 2, GTA San Andreas, Gears of War.......All over-hyped, all great games. If you don't like Halo or are not an FPS fan, don't buy the damn game. It's that simple.

Don't give me that crap. I downloaded the original trial on my PC a few days ago. It is absolute crap. The textures are crap the animations are crap the environments are crap the enemies are uncreative the weapons are uncreative the control sucks the vehicles suck the particle effects suck the physics suck and the AI is a new kind of suck. The quests are "turn off the control panel!" kind of crap the shield is the dumbest and most worthless invention in gaming, and the gun physics and bullet and projectile dynamics are retarded. The game blows in every way. Variety was almost considered non-essential to the developers, I can imagine. I'm like the only person in the planet who thinks the second one is better than the first. Now I know that everyone is lying and Halo 2 is the best one in the franchise. Halo 3 looks terrible. All three were overhyped to hell, Halo 1 is still getting hyped (when it is totally undeserving of it), and it should STOP. Halo 2 had some fun. But only in multiplayer. But it was all DM style BS. Considering the degree that the games that I have on my PC right now (Red Orchestra, CS:S, DoD: S, Half Life 2) own Halo 2, there should be no hype. No hype at all. The games suck. Halo 2 was underwhelming. But it was kind of fun. Cute. So move on, folks. Nothing to be said here. OH MY GOD PLAYING WITH FRIENDS ONLINE IS SO COOL AND FUN OMG SERIOUSLY OMG! Shush and get a life and a new set of games that are actually decent, intuitive, and a million times better than Halo.

I suppose Halo is overrated because it is seen in the world as "The Best Shooter Ever" and covered by the media as the end-all last word when it comes to shooters. Now, while I wholeheartedly agree that it is a fantastic game and a worthy classic, it does not deserve quite the attention or even adulation it recieves. It's not merely a "good" game, to be sure, and by no means a "bad" one, but in a shooter-heavy market, you've got upper-echelon titles like Half-Life and others to contend with. While Halo stands around them as an equal, it's not head-and-shoulders better, like most casuals choose to believe.
Therefore, it's over-rated, even if it isn't the game's fault.
Because I've played Halo 2, and I owned it too before my 360 got the 3-ring of death (still gotta send it in for a new one, but too lazy), and it wasn't good. Everyone says it's the best. Therefore, I say it's overrated. And it is.

If they don't like FPS games they should treat the game like an anorexic treats food....Shut their mouth and stay away. 4) Oh and also there are those who call Halo a rip-off of previous FPS games so they hate Halo...which is beyond stupid to me because who cares if Halo (Or any game for that matter) borrowed some ideas from other games in the making of theirs, I mean that's how progress is made...you take someone elses idea and improve on it in some way.
In the end I could care less what anyone else thinks about Halo if it is over-hyped, under-hyped or just rightly-hyped. For me personally I can't wait for the release of Halo 3 so in the end that's all that matters to me....is ME and as for ME I'll be playing Halo 3 having a blast whenever it comes out so while others may be saying "Halo is this or that"... I'll be busy gettin my "Killing Spree" on.

Yeah you're right I did forget that one...but generally speaking this one usually falls somewhere between "They just suck at it" and "Don't like FPS" :P But hey like I said, I could care less what anyone else thinks about it cause I have a blast playing it so to heck with anyone else who says otherwise :D
I don't think Halo is overhyped. Halo is undoubtly the best FPS game I've ever played in my life. And yes I do own Half Life 2, Golden Eye 007, Doom 3 etc.. but Halo totally smash through those games in term of quality. The music in the Halo series are perfectly orchestrated and what I love about it is that anyone could get into it. Its a pick up and play game. Video gamers all over the world witness the greatness that is Halo once they picked up played it on Microsoft Windows platform or Microsoft Xbox platform.
