Why do people use sells as a quality scale?

Here is an example...

The Lotus car company sold about 4,000 vehicles in 2004

Toyota on the other sold 916,000

Well Folks, there it is... Toyota cleary has better quality products. I'll take a Toyota Corolla over a Lotus Type 72 D any day of the week.

toyota is either the top or in the top three for reliability and quality....

Thats how I feel about the Wii. I haven't pl.ayed since a Brawl party back in July. Yet, sheep are always stating it has the best sales and games.

Please show me other than virtual console games, some other games that are a bit more mature. All I know of is the Resident Evil and Mad World games

This. No More Heroes was one of the worst games i've ever played seriously. It's so mind blowingly boring. And i'm not even talking about the GTA-esque driving stuff, that can't even compare to GTA4, but I mean the fighting and bosses and storyline, I just couldn't force myself to continue.

Plus the controls are way too confusing, and some of the more intricate controls are way too hard to pull off and take too many distinct motions to do.

ppl use sales bc theyre too stupid to actually come up w/ a legit arguement. the funny thing is that the same ppl who use sales to argue consoles, ignore sales when it comes to games. "ps3 is better cuz its outselling 360, resistence is better than halo"

Toyota beats Lotus in every important aspect.

But no company beats the german cars: Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, BMW, VW.

Unmatchable.

Sales are a concrete example of a games appeal to the masses (something that critical reviews can never be).

And your analogy is heavily flawed. With very little exception, games are the same price on the same platform, whereas a Lotus car is way way way more expensive than any Toyota.

Not saying that they are the end all be all, but they do show, very clearly, how the general public is voting with their wallets.
