Why do the games not work when you try cross-platform

I tried cross-platforming the ps3 xbox 360 but it didnt work but i heard that online could be the solution so which platform is crossed?

Did you make sure to check the back of the box? Only some of the 360 games can work on the PS3. I think it has something to do with the direction the disk spins.
