In marketing their are key reasons for everything, I have been trying to find the key reason why Korea. I mean it no wheres near that big of a gaming market. Korea's gaming market is going up but to give Korea a bigger hard drive than any where else, I just can't find the logic in that. Please don't just say because it is Sony they have no logic.

isnt korea the first place to get movie downloads on the ps3? maybe there less legal stuff to workaround over there or sony just really wants them on board.

They(Sony) have their reasons. imo, I think its pointless, for the fact that you can install any 2.5 SATA HDD in your PS3. right now I have installed a 160GB HDD in my PS3 and it cost me just £55, while a 20GB HDD for X360 cost £70.

I can understand that they have their reasons but I just think it was wierd that Korea got the bigger PS3 first. Has for the extra hard drives be happy you can upgrade your hard drive, I can only hope that Nintendo makes a add on soon. I am running out of room for my VC games and don't want to buy a memory card over a hard drive.

Wasn't there some kind of embargo on Japanese technology until recently? Maybe since this is the first batch of consoles being released there, Sony wants to come out swinging and make the PS3 seem as attractive as possible (especially since it's apparently cheaper there than in the US). If Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft could sway such a fanatical gaming community into enjoying consoles too, there's a lot of potential to be found sales-wise IMO. We'd probably also all get our collective butts kicked at Resistance, Halo 3, Motorstorm, whatever.

Everytime I read you sign I can't belive that someone thought that Nintendo did not make games. Bigger markets are always great means more games that we all could like I love minigames but most people do not so they don't make has many has I wished they did. More markets could mean more minigames or more of other types of games other people like.

I wouldnt be surprised if Korea is the place where the hard drives are manufactured. I could be wrong, but if this is the case, it makes total sense because it probably doesnt cost Sony anything extra if thats where they are manufactured.

Heheh, yeah, I've only been on GS a short time, but it's by far the best quote I've seen (right up there with the "Who/what the hell are the Zerg"?). Just HAD to sig it.

Yeah, a new big console market would be interesting times for the gaming industry as a whole. I dunno if it'd create more minigame-based games, from what I gather the big-league games in Korea seem to be online games RTSs like Starcraft. I'd bet that there'd be more 'hardcore' online multiplayer games relying on skill though, since those are bigger than sports over there. If you like minigame-based games, Mario Party 8 is only a short time away, and apparently this one has online multiplayer. I'd recommend that one if you like others in the series, along with Raving Rabbids and Warioware: Smooth Moves.

Then delete the ones you are not using and redownload them in future. IIRC, the games purchased are saved to your Wii number on the main download server. Kind of like Steam games on PC.

The PS3 won't be a good hit in Korea. Koreans are into MMORPG games and an online FPS called Sudden Attack which is almost free.

South korea got a bigger hard drive because sony is going to offering more download services there, weither it be movies, game addons, etc etc. People have to remember that south korea has the highest amount of broadband in the world. Also i believe sony is trying to make a splash in SK cause no one there plays console games anyways. I think the social impact of Sk pc cafes (PC Bang) makes consoles irrelivant there. On top of that i truely believe that there is still alot of tension between SK and Japan, and that people in korea wont purchase a ps3 soley based on sony being a japanese product.

Plus all japanese are  Jookbari's

Because console gaming is pretty much dead in Korea. The newer PS3 is probably to add incentive to a dying platform over there.

This is just a guess.

I know Korea has a massive online culture.  It goverenment set up a powerfull broadband system years ago so the average person can have something like 100Mbps connection. Downloading films and other thing are alot easier in Korea as it has low loading times so alot more people are already downloading thing from the net.  So Sony would have known that alot more people in Korea are used to downloading so Korea got a extra hard drive space.

Im guessing its because they have the fastest and best broadband in the world therefore they probably download a load more than the rest of us.

I would've gladly bought a Wii that was twice the size of the one now, included an upgradeable 2.5 or 3.5 in. SATA hdd (maybe 60gb, i dunno) and cost $300.
