This link should explain it all. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gdc-10-cryengine-3/63102Notice how the PS3 version looks to be running at a higher resolution. Also take note the lighting seems superior on the PS3 version, and the texture detail looks to be a little better too? I just noticed it from this video, don't know if the final version of the game will look like this but if it does it will be the final nail in the coffin of which hardware is superior.

Yeah, it does indeed look better there.

But I remember the other tech demo where the PS3 had the usual washed-out colours. Crytek maybe have unravelled some of that PS3 power Naughty Dog and Santa Monica have discovered.

Why does the PS3 one have a gun and the 360 don't?QTEGamer

The 360 version is a pacifist.

If I had to bet, I would think the 360 would have the advantage due to the similar to PC architecture.
However, whatever we do see in these videos, we have to remind ourselves that the game is indeed not out.

If the PS3 looks better in those vids, that's interesting, and maybe it will look better overall...or maybe it won't. It's too early to tell.

Thanks for bringing this topic to SW either way, mate.

I personally do not buy into that. firstly the "pc version" as in the editor looks worse than the ps3.. because its in the dev view. When working in the level creator the game does not look as good purely because things like the lighting etc are not always properly rendered. If I am wrong then the ps3 is better than that PC lmao. Secondly the 360 is not running the game it is running the dev feed from the pc; so I would say that is not a fair comparison. Also when the first shots came out some point last year the 360 version looked better than the ps3...

Seems unfair to compare the ps3 fully rendered view to the 360 which is using the pc dev feed. Unless I am totally wrong -_-

Stop making things up,they look exactly the same, the only differences i can spot is that each console GPU does lighting different.

He's not making things up, it's right there in the video. At the beginning you can see that the picture is alot more clearer on the PS3 version. It looks like the native resolution is'nt as high on the X360.

You guys can judge resolution differences on off screen videos? I mean, It couldn't just be that the contrast on the TV's is different.

So, are you saying 360 and PC versions look identicle and both inferior to PS3? Thats what i see from that vid.

The fact is that they are controling the 360 version from the PC. Thats why they both look similar. PS3 version looks more like a final version.

Ill tell you why.Its because PC and 360 are running in real time sandbox editor aka in engine,ps3 is disconnected. They probably shoved finished stuff on ps3 and played with PC and 360.Hence 360 and PC look identical while ps3 looks differend. You can see that PC and 360 have different lightning, they probably were messing around with PC and 360,shoving what engine can do...

Here is Lens of Truth GDC video...you can see more footage 0:20,they look almost identical...different color, everything same.

Why would they use different settings?? Usually it's the PS3 that get's the worst image because of different settings on the PS3 and the TV. It's not just the brighter image that is the difference though, it also looks like the X360 has a less sharper image, and that could be the resolution or a filter of some kind. I'm not saying the difference is huge, but it might get bigger when watching it on TV.

Its like were back at GDC 2009 when CE3 footage on PS3 and 360 was first released.

360 version is linked to editor and they had problems to connect to PS3, so PS3 stayed in game mode, 360 switched to editor preview mode ;)

Please explain why the PC version looks worse than the PS3 version. Look at the top screen, which looks to have not as much contrast as the PS3 version.

This developer specifically talks about designing the game on the PS3 and strongly believes Crytek takes advantage of the PS3 better than any other developer out there. Watch the last quarter of the video.

He says this a few times and if the video is posted around the same time the video was taken, we can assume by his tone, Crysis 2 looks significantly better than Killzone 2. Also him specifically talking about developing for the PS3 and how much they were able to do with it and not mentioning 360 development might indicate that they were able to achieve more on the PS3.

But its all speculation and Im not sure the team would want any noticeable differences between the two versions. It would be funny if this turns out to be another FF13 situation. Then the 360 fanboys would have nothing to hang on to and admit defeat. Crysis 2 is like their last hope of going head to head against PS3 exclusive graphics.

The PS3 version doesn't have more contrast, it actually has less. That room is supposed to be dark and gloomy.

What screen are you looking at? The PS3 has higher contrast between lights and darks.

Yea you think they are implying it because he talks about ps3 version. You know why?It because he is showing ps3 version. You know why?Because they want to convince 3rd arty that their engine runs great on ps3.You can note that in the end he says that rsx is low end compared to xenos and PC gpu. Also this is not implying, this is real quote from their tech director.

http://www.destructoid.com/how-does-cryengine-3-run-differently-on-ps3-and-360--132464.phtml

"It's been tricky, but we've got a strong PS3 engine with all the major systems running on SPUs. With middleware, what you want is for someone else to do all that so the developer can just concentrate on making games. We have parity between the platforms now: both run at the same speed ... If the game's shader-heavy it runs a bit faster on 360; if it's compute-heavy with physics and particles, then the SPUs take over and it's a bit quicker on PS3."

It confirms they both run better when their hardware pros come into play, and he also says that they use spus significantly,so you wont be able ot play on not using spus card. You guys should just stop with pretending you got premium system that is HAS to be better then 360 and just play games...

Oh please... They have only been showing off the Xbox 360 version of the game(with the exception of a couple PC screenshots) thus far. And what we have seen so far is definitely the best on consoles, so I think you have already been proven wrong.

As for this video, it is a difference in contrast.

Yes he is,you and him are kind of ignoring what the developer said ''"It looks like we're having a bit of trouble connecting to the PS3, so we'll just use the 360 for now"'' it seens the ps3 stayed on the game mode, while the other two versions are on editor mode, and according to your logic the ps3 version looks better than the pc one seens it looks similar to the xbox 360 one and we all know is technically impossible ;).

That means that they're working well with the PS3 - as opposed to other developers who may find it hard, they've got to grips with it? Seriously, I've read so much about how each version will be identical, or shaders are better on 360.

PC version will blow both away no doubt, but even going by that video - it looks stunning! At least they got the 360 version to work :P

Crytek are a technical marvel. Crysis 2 will not be ported from PC, made ground up for each platform.
