I think Dante's as annoying as hell.

Because it's actuallly entertaining for some people.
Myself being one of those people. And everyone else who has atested the same.
It's fun, the storyline of the series has some depth and doesn't really go bland. It's just a matter of personal opinion.

I don't know. I never understood the appeal. I got the first one, started it up, watched the intro, was intrigued by the potential for adrenaline-pumping "stylized action", as Capcom put it, started the game, and then... then I was wandering around an old castle on a meandering collect-a-thon while stabbing marionettes.
Allow me to restate that: You, Dante, bad-ass extrordinare, are are fighting PUPPETS.
That just killed it for me. I quit after a couple of levels and never looked back.

played the first one , didnt like the 2nd one . so im not a dmc fan anymore. not sure how dmc 3 is. mazdaspeed-rx8
well of course the 2nd one was terrible. You need to play dmc 3

They really did make the series better again. The storyline in all 3 was pretty lame, but the gameplay in 1 and 3 was amazing.
I've played a bit of DMC3, and it's ok. Just nowhere as good as Ninja Gaiden.
Dante's script is just horrible. He's a corny, loud-mouthed d-bag. When he surfed on a rocket, I almost switched the game off because it was that ridiculous. But I looked past it, and the gameplay isn't that bad.

DMC3 faithfully restores the series, if you're going to try it, make sure you get the original and not the Special Edition.

I agree, what's wrong with the SE? I thought it was geared more towards newcomers.

I bought DMC hoping for a game brimming with over-the-top action in an intense, atomspheric, and heavily stylized experience. Instead I found myself hunting for items while stabbing puppets.
Needless to say, I was disappointed.

The dialogue in that game is lackluster! "It's gonna be one hell of a party!" WTF!?

Why are we bashing DMC? I thought SW only bashed exclusives? Since DMC4 is coming out for every system that matters, let's all say that Dante is awesome and move on.chaotzu
But that would be lying to yourself. Dante is a d-bag and you know it! :x
Devil May Cry are awesome games, the next best thing next go Ninja Gaiden. The lines are a bit corny(DMC3), but after seeing DMC4, it seems they have adressed that issue. Gameplay is top notch, because its more about doing stylish combos rather that just being able to kill the enemy.
People who play DMC1 TODAY will say its a disapointment or over rated, but i can sure say when that game launched back in 2001, that game was the best thing on playstation 2. DMC2 was a dispointment, no doubt. DMC3 ruled, and DMC4 looks quite promising.

And all shooters would be nothing without DOOM. What's your point?

True, DMC is like the father of GOW and Ninja Gaiden. It came out first and so they stole everything from it.
And yes I know NG was out before DMC, but not in 3D.

What made DMC1 great was it's difficulty, and I heard DMC3: SE lowered the difficulty level from DMC3 due to complaints of the normal mode being 'too hard.' I'm just recommending the original DMC3 just for the challenge it offers right off the bat.
