Why does everyone think that PS3 will overtake 360?

and dont think that 360 will always keep its lead?

Dude last gen the Ps2 sold over 100 millions consoles, Xbox over 30m and GC over 30m also. Which means at least there were 100 million different ppl who bought a console. This gen we have what something around 30m sold only not even sure of that...

There are a lot of sales to be done before the winner is decided. And yes the PS3 has it's chances to overtake the xbox 360. Especially later in the generation when the price becomes muuuuch lower.

I haven't seen many people say that.

I personally think it will overtake the 360 next year after the arrival of both MGSIV, and GT5, and if FFXIII manages to come next year too then Wii will have a big challenge too.

The 360 is only in the lead because Sony hasent released there big title games.

Just wait late or mid next year you will see the BOOOM is PS3 i just can't wait what all you will say when the time comes.

U allways say PS3= to much money and i know that's a bad thing about it. But for what it can do it's worth it.

You will see and im sure alot of PS3 fans agrea but the 360 fans just wont acept. If you have been reading my post at the start i never said and started arguing what's better but after reading you 360 fans you damm being stupid there is so much stuff i can say but im going to wait until the time is right when the PS3 rises, then i'll really F***ing like what you will say!

It won't. Over priced, 360 can always match its price drops and the 360 has a better gaming lineup, plus it is currently outselling the PS3 like 5 to 1 WW. Hell in NA alone it outsold the PS3 2 to 1 in August and is set to outsell it 3 or even 4 to 1 in September andfor therest of the year there. Sorry but Japan isn't going to save anything. Console sales across the board over there have been tanking for 2 months straight now and the lowly 50K it outsells the 360 there, can't compare to the 300K to 400K the 360 outsells the PS3 for the rest of the world.

Anything is possible and who knows the PS3 may catch up at the turn of the decade, but those who think it will happen as early as next year are either really ignorant or just delusional. The 360 would have to stop selling for the PS3 to catch up in that short of a time and that won't happen.

Exactly and in just the last 5 weeks in NA the 360 has oldsold the PS3 4 to 1 about 5 to 1 WW. The PS3 is going to fall another million or 2 behind the 360 by the time this holiday season ends and that is just a fact. The 360 would litterly have to stop production for the PS3 just to catch up by the end of 2008, middle of 2009.

Wait until 2 Nov and we all will see if the PS3 will sell pretty good with the price drop.

I guess no onewill want to purchase, GTA IV, Alan Wake, Fable 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Halo Wars, DMC4, Lost Odyssey, Left 4 Dead, Madden 09, Too Human, Ninja Gaiden 2, Project Offset and these are just the games I can think of off the top of my head.

Who say's the 360 has nothing to compete in 08! I would say the next big killer would be Project Offset, If you don't know about this game you should! It's exclusive to the PC and 360 and, I believe it to a heavy trump card for the 360 in 08!

halo wars will sell like crazy imo. anything halo related is popular with the masses. it might not sell as well as holo 3 but it will sell very well

Yea. The 360 isn't selling well at all.

The POS 3 will fail. Once people realize it has NO worthwhile games they will instead jump on the 360 bandwagon. The only next-gen game console I own is a Wii and I am severly dissapointed by its lack of quality titles.

In the end the 360 will win.

I don't know where people get that the 360 isn't selling well in Europe considering the week ending on Sep 30th and Oct 7th the 360 out sold the Wii WW.

It was 55 million Xboxes sold, and 50 million Gamecubes. PS2 is still at around 120 mil, but you do have to remember that a hell of a lot of them are re-buys. I myself have 2 PS2's and am not alone, they were pretty unreliable.

In response to the TC's question, i think it will overtake it due to the hardware being so much more futureproof than the 360. Fact is, in a year or so, it is going to be very hard for the quality of graphics and the length of games to improve without blu ray. And don't give me all that multi-disk BS, sure mutli-disks are totally fine for consumers. But having to print an extra disk with extra packaging costs a firm so much more money than burning one disk.

Saying "everyone" does is a bit unrealistic, don't you think? I believe its a distinct possibility but we'll see.

Well I was going by shipped numbers I've seen that had the GCN pegged at 26 million and the Xbox around 28 or 30..in either case grossly inflated.

I'm not sure what the numbers are now. Those numbers were posted a few years back and no one cares enough to update them because it really doesn't matter considering the amount of PS2s out there.

Fable 2 has only been announced for the 360 - http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fable2/index.html?tag=result;title;0 -. Madden 08 sold more on the 360 than the Wii, PS2 and PS3 combined. Madden 09 = system seller for the 360. GTA IV = system seller for the 360. DMC4 = another reason to own a 360.

if the 360 had been at around 20 million then i seriously believe that the ps3 could not catch up. but seeing that the 360 sales haven't been great even though it has a spike in sales due to halo. the 360 can be easily be overtaken.
