Because they are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D
BTW, this is just an obvious troll thread, hope people don't bite it.
Besides the fact that the retail 2D games they make are way to big for the Wiis internal memory, the quality and overall length of the 2D games pretty much justify the price.
Oh no, LBP is 2.5D. The extra .5D makes it worth the full price.Does that mean LittleBigPlanet should be a downloadable game?

I have to agree with this.As you can see, platformers on WiiWare can only be around 3-4 hours long, because of the memory limit.Besides the fact that the retail 2D games they make are way to big for the Wiis internal memory, the quality and overall length of the 2D games pretty much justify the price.

They shouldn't be 50 dollars.

Says who? If a 2D game can easily have just as much content as a 3D one.

And yet, you haven't even mention a single reason.
because the number of dimensions in a game aren't indicative of it's quality or content?
Sword-Demon
Then you would be happy and ok with games like Shadow Complex costing 50 bucks?
There is no use for threads like this, even though I agree with it. Nintendo seems to get a free pass from the posters here, its like pissing in the wind to bash nintendo here.
it is a 3d side scroller not 2d ugh,
it has 3d characters and stuff making it a 3d side scroller like nsmb wii
and ds

they're not the only ones, and just because a game is in 2D doesn't mean it's bad
New to Systems Wars? like NEW NEW?There is no use for threads like this, even though I agree with it. Nintendo seems to get a free pass from the posters here, its like pissing in the wind to bash nintendo here.

LBPhas a full set of tools to create games and an online component that not only lets you play online with friends but you can even share the stages you create which is pretty much 20 years beyond the Wii's poor online capabilities, on top of this the game has great HD visuals. And all of this for only $10 more than the reg price of a Wii game.

I don't see what it being 2D has to do with anything whatsoever. They charge full price because it's a full length game. That's all.

Little Big Planet is a 2D platformer.

▲ Sorry bro, side-scrolling and 2D are different things. ▲
But DK is a 3D side scroller too, same with NSMB and to be honest they play the same as 2D games with the odd gimmick (as does LBP). SFIV has the same graphical effect, the point is 2D gameplay is full of win.[QUOTE="crusadernm"][QUOTE="Sword-Demon"]

Does Shadow complex have the content to justify a full price?Nope, but that's because it was made with it being on the Arcade in mind
If it was intended to be a full retail release it'd have much more content

SFIV has the same graphical effect, the point is 2D gameplay is full of win. Yeah some things just can't be done as well in 3-D. Although Super Mario Galaxy 2 eventually matched it, 3-D platforming is very difficult to make as tight as 2-D, perhaps impossible. 3-D fighting games end up being a wreck most of the time, hence why Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros. dominate the fighting scene (both the hardcore and casual/party parts of it).Because Nintendo is smart and want to make money? The fact is that gaming is much like the movie industry these days. Most games lose money, or break even, and game companies rely on the major blockbusters to make all their money...which they can then use to subsidize the rest of their games.
Despite this new generation of up and coming gamer who ignorantly think everything should be sold at a loss or else downloaded for free, that just isn't realistic and companies NEED to make money to pay for new and/or bigger ideas or just MORE games in general. If they can't make money, they go out of business and that means no more potentially great games PERIOD.
So when Nintendo makes a 2d game and sells it at full price, yes, as a consumer it honestly kind of sucks. But at the same time, that is why Nintendo is able to make lots of money and stay in business without having to take the same massive, expensive risks MS or Sony do.
